#1 of 2014

Dear Poptastic Readers,

My #1 song of 2014 is "Not Giving Up" by The Saturdays. Click on the title to read what I first wrote about the song.

I absolutely love The Saturdays! They are such a fun group. They have been on my radar for awhile now. This song stayed with me all year long, even though I had heard it last year! And it almost wasn't a single!

"Not Giving Up" was their last single from their album Living for the Weekend, which was out last year. It looked like the record company was going to scrap any more singles. Well, "Not Giving Up" was such a fan favorite ... they decided to release it as single for the fans. And this fan couldn't be more happy!

The video is lovely! They all look amazing. And the glow lights are fun! Check it out ...

"Not Giving Up" is available in the US on iTunes in the album Living For The Weekend. If you want the slightly remixed single, you'll have to get it on mp3va.com with a prepaid account. The remixed single is on their greatest hits collection Finest Selection. Don't delay. Buy it today!

Cheers then,

—Davearama

#2 of 2014

Dear Poptastic Readers,

#2 in my favourite songs of 2014 is "Crying On The Dancefloor" by Parralox featuring Francine. Click on the title to read what I first wrote about it.

"Crying On The Dancefloor" is AMAZING! And it almost was my #1 song of the year. It was very, very close. I really hope it is not the last time Parralox and Francine work together, because the result was fantastic!

Parralox featuring Francine

As I mentioned in my post when I first heard the song, I was not familiar with Parralox at all. Well, I sure have enjoyed listening to the back catalogue this year and I'm very much looking forward to new music from them.

I knew of Francine through her short-lived group The Face. Their song "Love Stuck" with Dream Beats landed at #9 of Poptastic Confessions Top 20 songs of 2012. I'd followed Francine on Twitter and Facebook, which is how I heard of the song. I'm so glad I did.

The video for "Crying On The Dancefloor" is good fun and they all look fantastic. Have a look ...

"Crying On The Dancefloor" should have been a global smash hit everywhere. And well, here on Poptastic Confessions, it is. The song and mixes are available on all digital outlets. Don't delay. Buy it today!

Cheers then,

#3 of 2014

Dear Poptastic Readers,

#3 of my favourite songs of 2014 is "Dancer" by Jody Watley. Click on the title to read what I first wrote about the songs.

The artwork I made for my iTunes playlist.

"Dancer" is one of those amazing tracks from Jody's FABulous album Paradise. I'm pretty sure that Jody announced on her Facebook page that "Dancer" would be the follow-up single to "Nightlife" — which was #1 on Poptastic Confessions songs of 2013! So I quickly put "Dancer" on my 2014 playlist and it has been played many times this year!

Paradise

The actual single release hasn't happened yet. I hope it is still planned. I thought about waiting to put this song on for next year, but the fact is "Dancer" has been part of the soundtrack to my life this year. So I included it! Plus, I met Jody Watley this year! It was a dream come true!

Davearama and Jody

There isn't an official video, but a fan has put the song on YouTube so that you can hear the awesome track. Just have a listen!

Jody Watley is returning to the Bay Area in February. I'd love to see her again. The show is on the day after my 45th birthday. But the show is also on my husband's 50th birthday. So I'll have to see what our plans are.

"Dancer" and Paradise are available on all digital outlets. There were even physical CDs available on Jody's website. Buy it if you can, the artwork is glorious and there is even a bonus track on the CD. Don't delay. Buy it today!

Cheers then,
—Davearama

#4 of 2014

Dear Poptastic Readers,

#4 in my favourite songs of 2014 is "Surge" by Glass Slipper. Click on the title to read what I first wrote about it.

Here's the cover I made for my iTunes library!

As you know, Glass Slipper hold a special place in my heart because singer Lisa and musician Brad Electro met because of Poptastic Confessions. And they've had a busy year putting out song after song! "Surge" was their first release this spring when it was released on sampler by the label Oh So Coy Recordings. Funnily enough, it was also their last release of the year as remixes and the proper release came in December after I started the countdown.

"Surge" was one of those songs that stayed with me all year. I love how cool it is. And Lisa's vocals are amazing. You can even hear Brad on vocals, too. My only complaint (and it isn't really much of one) was that there was no official radio edit. For my own enjoyment, I made my own! Woo-hoo!

Glass Slipper even dropped a video for "Surge" this month! Although they aren't in the video, it is pretty awesome! Have a look ...

"Surge" is available on iTunes. Remixes available on Traxsource. Don't delay. Buy it today!

Cheers then,

#5 of 2014

Dear Poptastic Readers,

#5 in my favorite songs of 2014 is "Good Lovin" by Alcazar. Click on the title to read what I first wrote about it.

"Good Lovin" is a bit of a departure in style for Alcazar as music is trance-pop and Lina sings solo for the beginning of the chorus. Sadly, they didn't make a proper video for the song. However, there was a lyric video. But I will feature this nice performance.

"Good Lovin" isn't readily available for those outside Sweden. If I find a place for you to legally buy the track, I will post it here.

Cheers then,

—Davearama

#6 of 2014

Dear Poptastic Readers,

#6 in my favourite songs of 2014 is "Be Kind" by StoneBridge & Crystal Waters. Click on the title to read what I first wrote about it.

I absolutely adore the lyrics to this song. I can relate to them in so many ways! And the beat is amazing. Makes you just want to get up and get your groove on! This could be the feel-good track of the year!

The song didn't have a proper video, but there is a lyric video ... so watch it and pay attention to the lyrics. Because they mean a lot to me.

"Be Kind" is available on digital outlets everywhere. Don't delay! Buy it today!
