Chasing Ghosts by Italove
Dear Poptastic Readers,
Because we follow producer/remixer/extraordinaire SoundFactory on social media, we found out about this song called "Chasing Ghosts" by Italove. We'd never heard of them before, but we liked what we heard! And as you might guess, SoundFactory has provided some stellar remixes.
"Chasing Ghosts" is a synth pop delight, and as no surprise by the group's name it is very Italo Disco. The chorus is especially good and it will have you wanting to learn the words very quickly. Check out the gothic music video on our 2023 Poptastic Confessions Playlist on YouTube ...
SoundFactory has picked up the beat and taken it straight to the dance floor without losing the essence of the original song. There is even a video for the remix. Check it out here ...
"Chasing Ghosts" was written by Mats Rubarth. It was produced by Michael Palace. It is available on digital outlets everywhere. Buy your copy today! We've added it to our 2023 Poptastic Confessions Playlist on Spotify. This is the third song this year with Ghosts in the title, so on our YouTube and Spotify playlists, we moved up "Ghosts Again" by Depeche Mode and "All My Ghosts" by Sarah von Reis.
Cheers then,
—Davearama

Simone/Gone For Good by Peter Wilson
Dear Poptastic Readers,
Australian artist Peter Wilson has a new double A-side single out called "Simone"/"Gone For Good." Now if you are new to Peter, his music is influenced by Italo disco and the 80s/90s producers Stock Aitken Waterman (SAW), so you know you will always have a fun time with his music.
"Simone" is an upbeat pop song about a heartbreak with Simone, although the verses are about the good times, and the chorus is about asking why they went away. This tears on the dance floor song was produced and mixed by Dutch producer Matt Pop, who also cowrote the song with Peter. Have a listen ...
"Gone For Good" is very hi-NRG with a soaring melody, especially the chorus. It definitely takes you back to the SAW era. It was written by Jeff Vincent and Niv Davidovich. It was produced by Jeff Vincent and Pete Hammond. Listen here ...
Both are available on digital outlets everywhere. Buy your copy today! We've added it to our 2023 Poptastic Confessions Playlist on Spotify. Enjoy!

Ghosts Again by Depeche Mode
Dear Poptastic Readers,
Pop legends Depeche Mode have just released a new song called "Ghosts Again." It's their first new song since member Andy Fletcher died last year. Depeche Mode are now a duo of Martin Gore and Dave Gahan. It is the first single from their new album Momento Mori.
"Ghosts Again" is a melancholy synth pop song, which embraces a guitar like so many of Depeche Mode songs have over the years. The song is definitely about death and our own mortality. The video is shot in black and white and it is quite nice. We've added it to our 2023 Poptastic Confessions Playlist on YouTube ...

Deep In Vogue by Rhyme So featuring Sophie Ellis-Bextor and Wuh Oh
Dear Poptastic Readers,
You might remember that Sophie Ellis-Bextor and Wuh Oh teamed up last year for their song "Hypnotized" (#3 in our Top 101 Songs of 2022). They are back together with Rhyme So for a cover of "Deep In Vogue" by Malcom McLaren and The Bootzilla Orchestra featuring Lourdes Maria Morales and Willie Ninja. It was originally recorded in 1989. It was the "vogue" song a year before Madonna's "Vogue." (Of course Bananarama were voguing in 1988 with "Nathan Jones.")
The new version is definitely an update on the original. The song starts off with Rhyme So on vocals and about halfway through Sophie comes in. Wuh Oh also is in the video. Check it out on our 2023 Poptastic Confessions Playlist on YouTube.
"Deep In Vogue" was written by David LeBolt and Malcolm McLaren. It is available on digital outlets everywhere. Buy your copy today! We've added it to our 2023 Poptastic Confessions Playlist on Spotify.
