Aeronaut by Parralox

Dear Poptastic Readers,

I must apologize for the lack of updates lately. Without going into too much detail, my life got a bit crazier than normal. Don't worry — Just another bump in the road.

Now on to better news! Melbourne-based electropop-act Parralox are back with a new song called "Aeronaut." And it is simply amazing. In our 2015 Music Forecast, I thought the new singer, Johanna would be on lead vocals. She isn't. Instead, John takes the lead and he does a fantastic job. Have a listen ...

Because I am still new to all-thing Parralox, I recently found out that John had a side project in 2012/13 called The Sound of the Crowd. No doubt, a nod the brilliant Human League song. And "Aeronaut" was on the album Life Is Calling. Although that version was much slower. That album is also on iTunes and other digital outlets if you want to check it out!

For the new and improved Parralox version of "Aeronaut," the video was shot in Paris! How lovely it is. I suppose Johanna didn't make her flight as she isn't in the video. But just look how dreamy John is when walking around Paris at night seeing the sites of Hôtel DeVille, Musée du Louvre, Jardin des Tuileries, Pont Alexandre III, Petit Palais & Les Invalides.

"Aeronaut" is available on iTunes, Amazon, Bandcamp, and even CD! It actually comes as an 11-track album as well as a remix EP! Yay! All of the songs on the album are sung by John, unless instrumentals. Some of them are remakes of previous songs from The Sound of the Crowd. I hope that they will turn eventually turn "Widelife" into a Parralox song. It is awesome.

If remixes are your thing, then you'll be happy to hear the remixes from Rich B & Phil Marriott, Paul Boddy, Mi Disguise, The Diversion Committee, The Talion Law Flying Soul, Dancing With Ruby, Dave Foreman, People Theatre, Vile Electrodes, Your Silent Face, Will Alonso, and Caesar Gergess & Alain Daniel.

Where does this leave new singer Johanna? I'm not sure, but she is singing backing vocals on "Aeronaut." And her image is being used on the remix CD and for the web banner below. So stay tuned ...

Don't delay! Go buy "Aeronaut" by Parralox today! You won't be sorry!

Since I am new to the group, I've gone back and bought Parralox's previous albums. They are an electropop lover's delight. So many great songs! And I'm bummed that I was so late to the Parralox party. But better late than never!

You may have remembered last year I went absolutely bonkers for the song "Crying On The Dancefloor" by Parralox featuring Francine as it landed at #2 on Poptastic Confessions songs of 2014. However, I will point out that somehow the song seems to be my most played song in my iTunes by over a thousand plays! I guess it should have been #1 after all. D'oh!

If you are wondering where else to start with Parralox besides the "Aeronaut" EP and "Crying On The Dancefloor" then I would highly recommend buying these 10 Parralox songs to start with ...

"Sharper Than A Knife"
"I Fell In Love With a Drum Machine"
"Supermagic"
"Miracles"
"I Sing The Body Electric"
"Enjoy The Silence" <— Depeche Mode cover
"Love Is Enough"
"Eye In The Sky" <— Alan Parson's Project cover
"Too Good To Be True"
"I Love You Too Much" <— Human League cover

Those are just some of my favorites. However, there are so many good songs that you might just want to buy the first album and work your way up. And that should get you started until you want to hear more, more, more!

Cheers then,
—Davearama

P.S. Check out Parralox's fabulous website. And don't forget to like their Facebook page. And bookmark Poptastic Confessions for more Parralox surprises coming soon!

P.S.S. Back in December, Parralox released a single EP and I didn't cover it because of the year-end countdown. In the style of The Human League, the single EP is called "Holiday '14" and features a new holiday classic "Little Drum Machine Boy" as well as some covers of Human League songs. That is also available on iTunes and other digital outlets.
