Favourite by Bananarama

Dear Poptastic Readers,

Pop legends Bananarama (Sara Dallin and Keren Woodward) are back and celebrating their 40th anniversary year. They have a new album coming in July called Masquerade. Today, they have released a teaser track called "Favourite." This is the duo's first new music since their 2019 album In Stereo, which featured the singles "Stuff Like That" (#1 in our Top 100 Songs of 2019), "Looking For Someone" (#5 in our Top 100 Songs of 2019), and the teaser track "Dance Music" (#28 in our Top 100 Songs of 2019).

"Favourite" is a remake originally done by Alice D in 2018. Alice is Sara's daughter. Bananarama have given their own spin on the song taking it to a dark electro place. Sara and Keren split the verses into solo bits before singing the bridge and chorus together. As a special bonus, Alice sings ad libs on the last 2 choruses making this a eurphoric number very special. Check out the lyric video ...

Can't Stop Writing Songs About You by Kylie Minogue & Gloria Gaynor

Dear Poptastic Readers,

A couple of weeks ago, Kylie Minogue released the music video for her song with disco legend Gloria Gaynor called "Can't Stop Writing Songs About You." You are probably well aware of this by now, but for those of you in the back ... here you go.

Most Kylie fans have known about the song since it was released at the end of 2021 on Kylie's album Disco: Guest List Edition. Kylie sings the first verse and Gloria sings the second verse. And the verses are the best thing about this song as the chorus seems a bit lackluster. It's not a bad song, but Kylie definitely had better songs on her Disco album that would have made better singles. Having said that, it wonderful to see Gloria again and she looks and sounds fantastic. Check out the music video ...

"Can't Stop Writing Songs About You" was written by Daniel Davidsen, Iain James, Peter Wallevik, and Sinead Monica Harnett. It was produced by PhD. It is available on digital outlets everywhere. Buy your copy today. We've added it to our 2022 Poptastic Confessions Playlist on Spotify

Miss The Party and Learning Experience by Clara Mae

Dear Poptastic Readers,

The Swedish Indie Queen Of Broken Hearts Clara Mae just released a new single called "Miss The Party" and a new EP called Learning Experience. Why do we call her the Queen of Broken Hearts? Most of her songs are about heartbreak. But they aren't always sad. Many are uplifting.

The new single "Miss The Party" is a duet with Danish artist Maximillian (not to be confused with the 90s dance act Max-A-Million). The nice part about the duet is that you hear both sides of the story, and you might see that the points of view might not be so far apart. The music is relaxing with a prominent acoustic guitar. They sound great together and the chorus is lovely. It was written by Clara, Cassandra Ströberg, Joel Gunnarsson, and Johannes Runemark, who also produced the track. Check out the music video here ...

Wasn't that nice? Yes. The single comes from Clara's new EP called Learning Experience. The EP contains Clara's 3 previous singles "Not Sad Anymore" (Lucky #13 in our Top 100 Songs of 2021), "Crash" (#22 in our Top 100 Songs of 2021), and "Missing You Sucks" (#31 in our Top 100 Songs of 2021). Click on those titles to see what we said about them upon their release.

Besides the new single, the EP contains 2 other new songs: "Little Hope" and "Learning Experience." You can listen to the EP here ...

As we said earlier, Clara is an independent artist. So the best way to support her is to buy her music. Please stream it to try it, or stream it after you buy it. Streaming doesn't make the artists a lot of money that is why it is so important to buy music from independent artists. We've added "Miss The Party" to our 2022 Poptastic Confessions Playlist on Spotify. Please remember to use Spotify as a way to hear new music. Buying the music will really help the artist. Please do so!

Cheers then,

Cool Without You by Isle Of You

Dear Poptastic Readers,

Swedish duo Isle Of You released a glorious new song today called "Cool Without You." If you are new to Isle Of You, please say their name out loud. Now that you are smiling, check out their songs "Change Of Heart", "Fallback", "Hold Tight", "Ears Ringing" and "Hard To Forget."

"Cool Without You" starts off a bit acoustic and slow paced with a beautiful melody. But when the chorus kicks in with a beat, the song has a different feel with the second verse. The music video is more like a visualizer where Ida and Elina are wearing wigs and sipping on white wine or champagne. Either way, we are here for these young women and the world is a better place with them in it! Check it out ...

"Cool Without You" was written by Elina Danielsson, Ida Johansson, and Joakim Buddee, who also produced the track. Isle Of You is an independent artist so the best way to support her is to buy their music. "Cool Without You" is available on digital outlets everywhere. Buy your copy today. We've added it to our 2022 Poptastic Confessions Playlist on Spotify. Please remember to use Spotify as a way to hear new music. Buying the music will really help the artist.
