The 30th Anniversary of Tripping On Your Love by Bananarama

Dear Poptastic Readers,

Pop Life, The Unofficial Bananarama Fanzine has been putting out special digital editions of the fanzine dedicated to the 30th anniversaries of the singles from Bananarama's glorious 1991 Pop Life album. "Tripping On Your Love" was released 30 years ago this month.

Not only was "Tripping On Your Love" the last single from the album Pop Life. It was also the last single to feature Jacquie O'Sullivan. That also means that Bananarama have been a duo for 30 years now.

Bananarama in 1991: Keren, Sara, and Jacquie

There are lots of interesting tidbits about "Tripping On Your Love" ... It is the single with the most commissioned remixes; George Michael even remixed the song; it was also meant to be the second single from the album, but it was pushed back; it is the only Bananarama song with a rapper; and at the time, it was lowest charting single since their debut single "Aie A Mwana" in 1981. In Bananarama's book Really Saying Something, we discovered that the chorus was already written and Sara wrote the verses and bridge.

"Tripping On Your Love" is an amazing song with a glorious melody. The music video features Keren, Sara, and Jacquie looks absolutely gorgeous. Another tidbit: Sara was very pregnant in the music video. Have a look ...

Also, the Silky 70s Mix takes the unison vocals and breaks them up individually. There is a piece in the fanzine that tries to figure out who is singing which part. Download all four special-edition fanzines here ...

"Tripping On Your Love" was written by Sara Dallin, Andy Caine, Danny Schogger, and Youth, who also produced the track. You can stream the incredible Pop Life album on Spotify here ...

Cheers then,
