Bam Bam by Dolly Style

Dear Poptastic Readers,

Sweden's sugary sweet girl group Dolly Style are back with a brand new single called "Bam Bam" and is the first music video to feature their newest member: Molly 4. Although her first single with the group was "Christmas Lights" back in December.


If you are new to Dolly Style, they are a girl group who wear pastel wigs and take on characters. Blue is Holly. Purple is Polly. Pink is Molly. The pastel wigs also help conceal the numerous line up changes over the years. So far, there have been 8 versions of Dolly Style with 4 Pollys, 4 Mollys, and 2 Hollys. At the end of this post, see the complete discography and line ups.

Now on to "Bam Bam." Dolly Style have turned up the fun on this track. We aren't sure what the lyrics are about except having a good time. The melody is nice and the chorus is an ear worm with some shout outs. The music video is cute. Have a look ...

Naked Love by Eric Saade

Dear Poptastic Readers,

It's been awhile since we have featured Swedish artist Eric Saade in Poptastic Confessions, but we heard his new song "Naked Love" and we quite liked it.

Lately, we've liked a lot of disco pop songs, and "Naked Love" has some soaring strings that have a disco vibe to them, but the beat is definitely not disco. Instead it is more of a trip-hop beat, which makes for an exciting first listen. The melody is quite nice and Eric sounds great. Have a listen ...

Superstar by Darin

Last year, we absolutely loved "Can't Stay Away" by Darin. It fact, it was #5 in our Top 100 Songs of 2021. We are happy to report he has a glorious new single called "Superstar."


Disco has made a comeback this year for sure as the last few songs we have featured have been disco pop. "Superstar" is right on par with the others. The song starts off a bit slow, but by the first chorus, the beat kicks in and melody soars. This is fun! Darin looks fab in the music video. We are loving his outfits, makeup, and nail polish. Shining Star by Betty Boo

Dear Poptastic Readers,

One of our favourite songs so far this year has been "Get Me To The Weekend" by Betty Boo. It was her first single since 2007 and we went absolutely bonkers for it in January of this year. Well, Betty is back again with another new single and this one is called "Shining Star."


"Shining Star" is fun disco/pop/rap track. It has soaring strings, a booming bass, and a complementary cowbell. The melody is quite nice. Betty sounds amazing. Another fabulous track to add to our 2022 playlist. You'll be dancing along in no time!

MeloDrama Queen by Lina Hedlund & Nanne Grönvall

Dear Poptastic Readers,

We have featured 3 sets of duos in the past 2 posts and here is another one: Lina Hedlund and Nanne Grönvall have teamed up for song called "MeloDrama Queen." You might remember Lina from Alcazar, and we have featured some of her solo songs, too: "Deeper Love" was #15 in our Top 100 Songs of 2019. We weren't familiar with Nanne, but she is also a Swedish artist who has most of her songs sung in Swedish.

"MeloDrama Queen" is a bold track with an edge. The verses are bit of a fast sung rap with some vocal acrobats. The music and energy of bridge and chorus remind you something of an epic Boney M song. Lina and Nanne performed the song live on Bingolotto in Sweden. Have a look here ...

Savannah by Rebecca & Fiona & Lili & Susie

Swedish dance duo Rebecca & Fiona have just released a single with Swedish sister pop legends Lili & Susie. The new song is called "Savannah." 


Last year the two duos got together for a Swedish program and did a live performance mashup of "All That She Wants" (originally by Ace Of Base) and Lili & Susie's song "Oh Mama!" Check out their performance here.
