Bonus: #21 of 2013

Dear Poptastic Readers,

Welcome to the countdown Poptastic Confessions Top Songs of 2013! Every year we start with the song that didn’t make the Top 20. We call it the bonus song as it gets its own call out. So without any more delay …

#21 in Poptastic Confessions favourite songs of 2013 is “Half Of Me” by Geri Halliwell. You can click on the song title to see what we had to say about it when it came out.

We love Geri Halliwell’s solo material. In fact, her song “Look At Me” was Davearama's #1 song of 1999. Her last solo single was in 2005 — so it was eight long years before we got any new music from Geri. However, she did do a Spice Girls reunion tour and wrote a few books and she’s been a mom so we suppose we can overlook the long absence.

The song was only released in Australia, but thanks to certain Australian friend of mine, we got the track. We like the song and think it very cute, despite the “bullshit” line.

And the video was super cute, too. But at the end of the day (as Geri always likes to say), there were 20 other songs that we liked more. Plus, it came out at the end of the year. Maybe if we had more time with it, it would be higher.

So while she didn’t make our Top 20, she got the next-best spot. We are still a big fans so we hope she continues to release music.

Congrats to Geri!

Cheers then,
—The Poptastic Confessions Collective
