Haunted Disco by Scarlet x Dolly Style

Dear Poptastic Readers,

Sweden's sugary sweet girl group Dolly Style have teamed up with Sweden's goth duo Scarlet for a new song called "Haunted Disco." They both participated in Sweden's Melodifestivalen this year with their songs "Yihaa" and "Sweet N' Psycho."

As you can imagine, "Haunted Disco" a spooky Halloween-themed song. Obviously, it is a bit harder edge, but it definitely has some Swedish pop sensibilities. The two groups wrote the song with their producer. The lyrics are about how all are welcome at the Haunted Disco. There is a music video/lyric video that shows Dolly Style entering a haunted house with Scarlet there. They even have a fun dance routine. Check it out in our 2025 Poptastic Confessions YouTube Playlist.

"Haunted Disco" was written by Annie Moreau, Caroline Aronsson, Martin Eriksson Sandmark, Mikaela Samuelsson, Scarlet Hunts, Thirsty, and Vilma Davidsson. It was produced by Martin Eriksson Sandmark. Sadly, it isn't available on digital outlets to purchase in every region. But it is on streaming! Listen to it on our 2025 Poptastic Confessions Playlist on Spotify ...

Sweat by Melanie C

Dear Poptastic Readers,

Sporty Spice Melanie C has just released a new single called "Sweat." This is the second single this year from her as she released "Girl" with Anna Lunoe back in February. Her upcoming album, also titled Sweat, will be released in 2026. We expect many more singles!

"Sweat" samples a 1981 song from Diana Ross called "Work That Body." Melanie's version is a bit more hi-nrg channeling 90s rave culture mixed in with aerobics. The music video shows Melanie having a great time in the gym with her high heels. There is even a funny nod to the Spice Girls with the men's speedos representing Baby, Ginger, Scary, and Posh. We love it. We've added it to our 2025 Poptastic Confessions YouTube Playlist ...

"Sweat" was written by Melanie C, Alexander Liu, Diana Ross, Dominc Joshua, Paul Jabara Raymond L Chew, Sean McDonagh, and Theo Hutchcraft. It was produced by Kingdoms. It is available on digital outlets everywhere. Buy your copy today! Listen to it on our 2025 Poptastic Confessions Playlist on Spotify ...

Sweet N' Psycho by Scarlet

Dear Poptastic Reader,

Back in February of this year, Sweden's goth duo Scarlet participated in Melodifestivalen with a song called "Sweet N' Psycho." We never got around to featuring it, but now that they have a song coming out with Dolly Style on Friday, we thought we'd go back to it, and we quite liked it. Scarlet consists of two female members: Scarlet Hunts (skeleton) and Thirsty (vampire).

Scarlet's music described as heavy metal. We wouldn't think we would like heavy metal, but we like this. For us, it sounds more industrial, but with the classic Swedish pop melodies. "Sweet N' Psycho" is a fun bop with a very catchy chorus. We've added their Melodifestivalen performance to our 2025 Poptastic Confessions YouTube Playlist ...

"Sweet N' Psycho" was written by Dino Medanhodzic, Anderz Wrethov, Jimmy "Joker" Thörnfeldt, Scarlet Hunts, and Thirsty. It was produced by Dino Medanhodzic, Scarlet Hunts, and Thirsty. It is available on digital outlets everywhere. Buy your copy today! Indie Summer by Color Buzz

 Dear Poptastic Readers,

Color Buzz has released their fourth single this year and it is called "Indie Summer." We have featured their previous singles "Image" featuring Flora Summers, "Spaceship" featuring Paul Rey, and "I've Been Waiting For So Long."

"Indie Summer" is a fun song with a chill dance vibe. It has that funky guitar sound. The female vocals are nice. Our only complaint is that it is too short! It clocks in at 2:21. We need more time to get our jam on with this. We've added the official lyric video to our 2025 Poptastic Confessions YouTube Playlist ...

Nice To Know You by PinkPantheress + Sugababes

Dear Poptastic Readers,

As you know we love the Sugababes, so imagine our surprise this morning when we found out they released a new song today called "Nice To Know You" with PinkPantheress. We weren't familiar with PinkPantheress, so we found out she is a British artist most well known for her 2002 song "Boy's A Liar." This year, we have featured these Sugababes singles: "Jungle", "Weeds", and "Shook."

"Nice To Know You" is an upbeat garage dance track with lots of lush vocal harmonies. Funnily enough, the song samples a Sugababes song from 2006 called "Spiral", which was a downtempo collaboration between William Orbit and the Sugababes for his album Hello Waveforms. This new song is very fun and we are enjoying it so far! We've added the official audio to our 2025 Poptastic Confessions YouTube Playlist ...

"Nice To Know You" was written by Askel Arvid, Anders Sven Bagge, Arnthor Birgisson, Glasear, Karen Ann Poole, Keisha Buchanan, Mutya Buena, Oscar Scheller, Pamela Sheyne, PinkPantheress, Siobhan Donaghy, and William Orbit. It was produced by Oscar Scheller, PinkPantheress, and Askel Arvid. It is available on digital outlets everywhere. Buy your copy today! Xanadu by Andy Bell

Dear Poptastic Readers,

Erasure singer Andy Bell has a new solo single out called "Xanadu." Yes, it is a remake of the classic Oliva Newton-John and ELO song from 1980. Earlier this year, we featured Andy's singles "Breaking Thru The Intersteller", "Don't Cha Know", "Dance For Mercy", and "Heart's A Liar."

Andy's version of "Xanadu" is a very faithful cover version. If anything, this song showcases his excellent vocal range, as Andy handles the high notes with ease.

Fashion by SoundFactory featuring Jean-Pierre Barda

Dear Poptastic Readers,

Legendary dance producer SoundFactory has their third single with Jean-Pierre Barda (from Army Of Lovers) this year. The new song is called "Fashion." Earlier this year, we featured their songs "Cocktail" and "Wigs Lashes Heels Mascara." Today is also the birthday of SoundFactory's Emil, so we wish a very happy birthday to Emil!

"Fashion" is indeed a cover version of the 1980 song by David Bowie. In fact, SoundFactory's previous single was "Nightclubbing", which was also a David Bowie song. The single artwork also featured a part of a star. We are seeing a theme here, and we love it!

The vocals on "Fashion" are very robotic and done with a vocoder. We thought, this sounds nothing like Jean-Pierre, but then his talking bit comes in near the end and you instantly know him. We aren't sure who is on the vocoder. Overall, this is very fun. We've added the official audio to our 2025 Poptastic Confessions YouTube Playlist ...

Dear Poptastic Readers,

Jupiter Pulse has released a new song with Ann Seeza called "Don't Want The Lights To Fade Away." We weren't familiar with Ann before, so we've included her social media links below.

"Don't Want The Lights To Fade Away" is a pleasant electro pop song. Ann does a great job on vocals, and the chorus has higher pitched vocals, and she handles them with ease. This has a really lovely melody. We've added the official audio to our 2025 Poptastic Confessions YouTube Playlist ...

Fade To Grey by Le Crash

Dear Poptastic Readers,

New artist alert! Swedish group Le Crash have released their debut single called "Fade To Grey." You might recognize the title as it was originally recorded by the English group Visage in 1980. Le Crash is giving us very strong Alcazar vibes. In fact, the women in Le Crash have recently done some shows with Andreas of Alcazar.

"Fade To Grey" is nice modern update with the female and male parts of the song being reversed. It's has been transformed from a synth pop classic, to a futuristic transpop anthem. We quite like it. We have added the official audio to our 2025 Poptastic Confessions YouTube Playlist. However, the YouTube link isn't available in all territories, so if you can't hear it there, you can check out Le Crash's YouTube page. You can listen on our Spotify playlist below ...

Dancing In My Head by Chris Tall

Dear Poptastic Readers,

Swedish artist Chris Tall is back with his third solo single this year and it is called "Dancing In My Head." This follows the previous singles "Saturday" and "In The Sunshine." We also say solo because Chris is one half of Rikky Disco, and their big single this year is "I Want You Back", which we absolutely love. Click on the song title to see the new music video.

"Dancing In My Head" has that classic synth sound like an accordian, and it is remincent of "Tu Es Foutu"/"You Promised Me" by In-Grid from 2002. Having said that, "Dancing On My Own" stands on its own as an instant classic. Coming at the end of summer just makes all those memories burn ever so brightly so that they will be dancing in your head. We've added the lyric video to our 2025 Poptastic Confessions YouTube Playlist ...
