If I Lay Here (Chasing Cars) by Nadine Coyle

Dear Poptastic Readers,

We aren't sure how we missed this, but it seems Girls Aloud singer Nadine Coyle released a pop dance track last month called "If I Lay Here (Chasing Cars).

"If I Lay Here (Chasing Cars)" is a dance remake of the 2006 song by Snow Patrol. Nadine doesn't sing the verses of the original, instead just the chorus and the Middle 8. Also, the original was quite slow. Nadine's version is aimed directly at the dance floor. We've added the lyric video to our 2023 Poptastic Confessions Playlist on YouTube ...

"If I Lay Here (Chasing Cars)" was written by Gary Lightbody, Jonny Quinn, Nathan Connolly, Tom Simpson, and Paul Wilson. It was produced by Dru Masters. It is available on digital outlets everywhere. Buy your copy today! We've added it to our 2023 Poptastic Confessions Playlist on Spotify

Back To You by Carda

Dear Poptastic Readers,

Australian artist Carda has released his third single this year, and we think it might his best so far (but the other ones are really good, too!). The new song is called "Back To You" and you're going to love it. We do! We listened to it all weekend and now we know all the words.

"Back To You" is about wanting to get back with an ex, and dropping hints to the people around them hoping the information gets back to them. It is a really charming song. Our only complaint is that it is a bit short. We want more! But that is a good thing. We've added the lyric. video to our 2023 Poptastic Confessions Playlist on YouTube ...

"Back To You" was written by Jon Santa, Megan Redmond, and Thomas Daniel. It was produced by Carda and Jon Santana. It is available on digital outlets everywhere. Buy your copy today! We've added it to our 2023 Poptastic Confessions Playlist on Spotify. You'll also hear Carda's previous singles "Just Say So" and "For The Ride."

Cheers then,
—Davearama

(It Goes Like) Nanana by Peggy Gou

Dear Poptastic Readers,

This past 2 months, we kept hearing this dance track out and about. Well, we finally found out the song was "It Goes Like) Nanana" by Berlin-based South Koren DJ extraordinaire Peggy Gou. It turns out we knew a lot of her songs like "Starry Night" by listening to playlists on Spotify.

When we first heard "(It Goes Like) Nanana", we thought it sampled ATB's "(9pm 'Til I Come)" as it has a similar guitar. Still not sure it doesn't. It definitely reminds you of some late 90s, early 00s club tracks.

OCTOBER UPDATE: We've added the official music video to our 2023 Poptastic Confessions Playlist on YouTube ...

Last Man Dancing by Jake Shears

Dear Poptastic Readers,

Earlier this year, we featured two singles from Jake Shears: "Too Much Music" and "I Used To Be In Love." Well, at the end of May, he released a single called "Last Man Dancing", which is also the name of his new album. We forgot to feature it until now. Whoopsie.

"Last Man Dancing" is fun mid-tempo pop song. The melody is pleasant and the music is a foot tapper. Jake's vocals really soar during the chorus. Check out the music video on our 2023 Poptastic Confessions Playlist on YouTube ...

"Last Man Dancing" was written by Jason Sellards (aka Jake Shears), Alexander Ridha, and Michael Cheever. It was produced by Le Chev. It is available on digital outlets everywhere. Buy your copy today! We've added it to our 2023 Poptastic Confessions Playlist on Spotify

These Are The Days by S Club

Dear Poptastic Readers,

Once upon a time, there was a British pop group called S Club 7 made up of 4 women and 3 men. They had a string of hits from 1999 to 2003. Earlier this year, they announced dates for a reunion tour this fall with all 7 members. Sadly, member Paul died suddenly in April. Another member Hannah decided to bow out of the reunion. The remaining 5 are still going on tour and they've released a new song in memory of Paul. The new song is called "These Are The Days." They've also dropped the number 7 from their name.

"These Are The Days" is an upbeat pop song that is about remembering the good times, but also being able to enjoy the time now. We were afraid it would be a sad ballad, but this is a happy song. The music video has lots of footage from their earlier years. We've added the music video to our 2023 Poptastic Confessions Playlist on YouTube ...

"These Are The Days" was written by Simon Ellis, Johanne Ellis, and Cathy Dennis. It was produced by John Nathaniel. It is available on digital outlets everywhere. Buy your copy today! We've added it to our 2023 Poptastic Confessions Playlist on Spotify

Venus (Boys Noize Rework) by Bananarama

Dear Poptastic Readers,

Hot on the heels of the 3am Mix of "Cruel Summer", the latest Bananarama classic to get the 40th anniversary treatment is "Venus". It's been given a hi-energy rework by German producer Alexander Ridha, otherwise known as Boys Noize.

The Boys Noize Rework retains the vocals and various musical elements of the original. However, the track has been sped up with heavy electro beats added — cleverly following the current TikTok trend of speeding up classic 80s hits. It has already been supported by Peggy Gou (currently in the charts with her smash hit "(It Goes Like) Nanana"), on heavy rotation in her recent DJ sets. The accompanying visualiser is a throwback to early 90s dance music videos — fast-paced animation with bold colours and silhouettes aplenty. We've added it to our 2023 Poptastic Confessions Playlist on YouTube ...
