This is the third song we have featured by Rikky Disco this year. Please see "Night Time" and "L.O.V.E. (Love Is Basic)."

"Shine On" gospel-themed disco pop song. Not only does it start off with a preacher man, but it has a gospel choir join in for the chorus and then throughout. The music is funky disco with a flair. This uplifting song will have you jamming in no time. We've added the official audio to our 2024 Poptastic Confessions YouTube Playlist ...

Freedom Of The Night by Sophie Ellis-Bextor

Dear Poptastic Readers,

English artist Sophie Ellis-Bextor is back with a new single today and it is called "Freedom Of The Night" and it is a glorious pop-dance affair. You may be most familiar with Sophie's biggest hit "Murder On The Dancefloor", which had a huge resurgence this year thanks to the movie Saltburn.

"Freedom Of The Night" is an upbeat song about the feeling that music has that gives you empowerment all set to a dance beat. It is quite enjoyable. The music video is a sequel to the video of "Murder On The Dancefloor" where Sophie is playing the same character, only this time her daughter is in the dance competition and isn't doing well, so Sophie gets up to her old tricks. The dance judge also makes a return to the new video. We've added it to our 2024 Poptastic Confessions YouTube Playlist ...

"Freedom Of The Night" was written by Duck Blackwell, Richard Stannard, Shura, and Sophie Ellis-Bextor. It was produced by Duck Blackwell, David Wrench, Chris Greatti, Richard Jones, and Richard Stannard. It is available on digital outlets everywhere. Buy your copy today! Emotions by Discrete

Dear Poptastic Readers,

This year, we have fallen back in love with dance music, so when we heard the song "Emotions" by Discrete, we were hooked at first listen. We weren't familiar with the artist, but we did some research found out that he is a Swedish artist and producer who has been releasing music since 2018. His real name is August Ramberg.

"Emotions" is a trance-pop anthem that starts off a bit somber until the beat and the bass kick in and pretty soon the synths soar to euphoric heights. Funnily enough when we heard it, we were kind of reminded of Clara Mae. Well, it turns out that she is one of the writers of the song and we wonder if it is her vocals pitched to sound different. We've added the official audio to our 2024 Poptastic Confessions YouTube Playlist ...

"Emotions" was written by August Ramberg, Clara Hagman, Simon Strömstedt, and William Kallin. It was produced by Discrete and William Kallin. It is available on digital outlets everywhere. Buy your copy today! Listen to it on our 2024 Poptastic Confessions Playlist on Spotify ...

Not sad anymore,

Next To You (Carda Remix) by Rammor

Dear Poptastic Readers,

Because we follow Australian Carda on social media (and you should, too! Links below), we saw that he just did a remix for the song "Next To You" by Rammor. We weren't familiar with the artist Rammor or the song, but we quite like it, and we think you will too.

The original version of "Next To You" (credited as by Rammor x Lonely Night featuring Otto Palmborg) is quite a good, emotion pop song about wanting to be next to that someone special, but the relationship is over. It's nostalgia mixed with an end-of-summer vibe. Carda's remix has taken this pop song straight to the dance floor, all while being very faithful to the original. We've added both the original and Carda remix to our 2024 Poptastic Confessions YouTube Playlist ...

"Next To You" was written by Michael Fischer, Nick Mangold, Otto Palmborg, and Tolga Karakus. It was produced by Rammor, Chaël with additional production by Carda on the remix. It is available on digital outlets everywhere. Buy your copy today. Listen to both versions on our 2024 Poptastic Confessions Playlist on Spotify ...

I should've said,

Album review: Mega Dance by Rebecca & Fiona

Dear Poptastic Readers,

Sweden's Rebecca & Fiona have a new album out called Mega Dance. We have already featured 4 singles from the album this year: "All Or Nothing""Älskling""Arena", and "Heartbeat."

Rebecca & Fiona have turned out an epic dance album with Mega Dance. We have reviewed each track. Enjoy!

1. "Intro" Written by Rebecca Scheja, Fiona Fitzpatrick, Tommie Damberg, and Tor Rauden Källstigen. Produced by Rebecca Scheja

A deep voice comes in announcing Rebecca & Fiona's return to the dance floor. Then a female reporter chimes in, followed by a countdown.

2. "Arena" Written Rebecca Scheja and Fiona Fitzpatrick. Produced by Rebecca & Fiona and Carli Löf

This is probably our favourite single from them this year. It starts off a bit slow and gradually picks up and you just feel it in your bones. Before you know, the beat has captivated you. Pretty soon you will be singing along "1, 2, 3, 4."

3. "Everybody's Free (To Feel Good)" Written by Nigel Swanston and Tim Cox. Produced by Carli Löf

A remake of the 90s classic by Rozalla. They have remade this in a way that updates the song perfectly in 2024. We love it! We've added it to our 2024 Poptastic Confessions YouTube Playlist ...

4. "All Or Nothing" Written and produced by Rebecca & Fiona

The lead single from the album! Hearing it fit into the album makes perfect sense. It has some tempo changes and emotions run high in the lyrics and vocal delivery. Those house keys.

5. "J'dore Nonstop" with House of Virginism Written by Rebecca Scheja, Fiona Fitzpatrick, Tommie Damberg, and Fredrik Apollo Asplund. Produced by Lauer

The house keyboard returns here. A male vocal is on the verses with Rebecca & Fiona helping on the chorus.

6. "Heartbeat" Written by Rebecca Scheja, Fiona Fitzpatrick, Malin Axelsson, and Simon Hagström. Produced by Rebecca & Fiona, Carli Löf and Simon Hagström

This mid-tempo dance song was their last single. The house keys really add flair. Rebecca & Fiona's vocals are a bit more reserve during the verses, but they belt out the chorus!

7. "For The People" Written by Rebecca Scheja, Fiona Fitzpatrick, John Andersson, and Jonas Edquist. Produced by John Andersson and Jonas Edquist

This has an ultra-cool electronica vibe. While this one might not dominate the dance floor, it will dominate your brain as it so groovy. This is great.

8. "Älskling" Written Rebecca Scheja, Fiona Fitzpatrick, and David Jackson, who produced the track

The beat back up to a fast pace and before you know it, you are singing along "Ba ba ba ba ba" This was their second single released this year.

9. "Noice" Written by Rebecca Scheja and Fiona Fitzpatrick. Produced by Rebecca Scheja and Albin Myers

This is very in your face and a bit in your face, in a good way. The music is dark and intense.

10. "Paradise" Written by Rebecca Scheja and Fiona Fitzpatrick. Produced by David Jackson

Another face-paced song. The vocals are pitched high on this one. You might think the Chipmunks are singing this one.

11. "Bubble Bass" Written Rebecca Scheja, Fiona Fitzpatrick and Tommie Damberg. Produced by Carli Löf

This song definitely sounds like you could have a bubble machine going to this. This is a fun song with lots of attitude, that ends up sounding a bit uplifting.

12. "Love Has A Prize" Written Rebecca Scheja, Fiona Fitzpatrick, and Joel Dunkels. Produced by Rebecca & Fiona and Carli Löf

This space-age trip-hop ballad is a nice closer for the album.

Astronaut by Tears For Fears

Dear Poptastic Readers,

English duo Tears For Fears have released their second single from their forthcoming live album Songs For A Nervous Planet this year and it is called "Astronaut." It is the first single was "The Girl That I Come Home."

This mid-tempo song feels very Beatle-esque while also sounding very Tears For Fears. Roland sings lead his falsetto is effortless. The song is easy going, while having an edge when it get to the catchy chorus. We've added the nostalgic video to our 2024 Poptastic Confessions YouTube Playlist ...

"Astronaut" was written by Charlton Pettus and Roland Orzabal. It was produced by Tears For Fears and Charlton Pettus. It is available on digital outlets everywhere. Buy your copy today! Listen to it on our 2024 Poptastic Confessions Playlist on Spotify ...

Evil Woman by Duran Duran

Dear Poptastic Readers,

Pop legends Duran Duran have released a cover version of ELO's 1975 hit "Evil Woman." It is a part of the upcoming revamped De Luxe version of their 2023 album Danse Macabre. Their previous single was a rerecording of their 1984 single "New Moon On Monday" called "New Moon (Dark Phase)"

Duran Duran's version of "Evil Woman" is a fun, disco remake of the original. The strings and backing vocals really elevate this. Simon gives a great vocal performance. We've added the official lyric video to our 2024 Poptastic Confessions YouTube Playlist.

"Evil Woman" was written by Jeffrey Lynne. It was produced by Duran Duran and John Blair. It is available on digital outlets everywhere. Buy your copy today! Listen to it on our 2024 Poptastic Confessions Playlist on Spotify ...

Solitude by Sarah von Reis

Dear Poptastic Readers,

Swedish artist Sarah von Reis is out with a new single called "Solitude." We are still smitten with her last 2 previous singles this year: "Blame It On" and "Friend."

"Solitude" is a mysterious song because it hard to define. It's a slow song, but not that slow. It isn't a ballad. But it is lovely. The subtle guitar highlights Sarah's effortless vocals. We quite like it.
We've added the official audio to our 2024 Poptastic Confessions YouTube Playlist ...

Storm and Melody EP by Francine Belle

Dear Poptastic Readers,

Francine Belle has released her new single "Storm" on Friday as well as her first EP titled Melody. We featured the first single also called "Melody" in August. That is also the first song on the 4-track EP. Click on the name of the song to see what we wrote about it.

"Storm" is the second track on the EP and Francine is definitely in storyteller mode here. This heartfelt mid tempo song is about the power of family through difficult times. The official visualizer shows a sister and brother finding themselves in a storm. The visualizer repeats 3 times, but each time it really connects to the lyrics. In the beginning of the visualizer, you see the cover of Francine's 2022 single "Shame The Devil." We've added "Storm" to our 2024 Poptastic Confessions YouTube Playlist.

"Trigger" and "You Can" are the other 2 tracks on the Melody EP. Both are groovy mid-tempo track with lush vocals. Francine has done an amazing job here. You really get to enjoy her songwriting skills and of course, her beautiful voice.

All songs were written by Francine Belle. The Melody EP is available on digital outlets. Buy your copy today! Listen to them on our 2024 Poptastic Confessions Playlist on Spotify ...
