Time by Sophie Ellis-Bextor
Dear Poptastic Readers,
At the end of November, we featured "(Christmas) Time" by Sophie Ellis-Bextor, which was a slightly altered version of the song "Time" from Sophie's latest album Perimenopop. Well, we couldn't stop listening to the song in December, and now January. It's not very Christmasy. We decided to feature the album version of "Time" here and add it to our 2026 playlists!
As we said in December, "Time" has a warm feel to it and it is about reflecting on a love and giving your all to a relationship. We absolutely love the bassline, and Sophie sounds wonderful on this. We've added the non-Christmas visualizer to our 2026 Poptastic Confessions YouTube Playlist ...
"Time" was written by Jon Shave, Sophie Ellis-Bextor, and Uzoechi Emenike. It was produced by Jon Shave. It is available on digital outlets everywhere. Buy your copy today! Listen to it on our 2026 Poptastic Confessions Playlist on Spotify.
I can give you all of my time,

Letting Things Go and The Next Thing Will Be Amazing by Culture Club
Dear Poptastic Readers,
80s supergroup Culture Club are back with new music, and they have just released a new double A-side single. The two songs are called "Letting Things Go" and "The Next Thing Will Be Amazing." Both songs are rumoured to be from a forthcoming album, but there hasn't been an announcement yet.
"Letting Things Go" is a dreamy midtempo ballad with quite the bold guitar. Singer Boy George gives a great vocal performance. You can hear the official audio on our 2026 Poptastic Confessions YouTube Playlist ...
"The Next Thing Will Be Amazing" is more upbeat and it is the more fun song. It even has a fun key change. Our only complaint is that the song is too short. It clocks in at 2:36. We want more! But we really like this. We've also added the official audio to our 2026 Poptastic Confessions YouTube Playlist ...
Both "The Next Thing Will Be Amazing" and "Letting Things Go" were written by Benny Di Massa, George O'Dowd, Mikey Craig, and Roy Hay. Both were produced by Benny D. They are available on digital outlets everywhere. Buy your copies today! We've added both songs to our 2026 Poptastic Confessions Playlist on Spotify.
It's a miracle,

Clap Song by Dolly Style
Dear Poptastic Readers,
Last year was a big year for Dolly Style and in December, they released "Clap Song" right before Christmas. We were in the middle of our countdown of Poptastic Confessions Top 101 Songs of 2025, where Dolly Style came in at #1 with "Yihaa." Check out our history of the group at the end of this post.
"Clap Song" is sort of a moden folk pop song with the obivious hand clap parts. The lyrics are very inspirational, and it is a great song for when you are feeling down. The best part is the glorious key change near the end. We've added the lyric video to our 2026 Poptastic Confessions YouTube Playlist ...
"Clap Song" was written and produced by Jimmy Jansson and Thomas G:son. We've added it to our 2026 Poptastic Confessions Playlist on Spotify.

Baby Love by Regina Richards
Dear Poptastic Readers,
Back in in the mid-80s, a singer named Regina co-wrote and recorded the song "Baby Love." It was originally intended for Madonna, but she declined. Regina released the song as her debut single in May of 1986 and we all thought it was the new Madonna song as they sounded very similar. It went to #10 on the US charts and it was #1 on the dance charts. Her debut album Curiousity featured two more singles, but they weren't hits. Regina was considered a one-hit wonder. In 1991, Dannii Minogue covered "Baby Love" taking it to #14 in the UK.
At the end of 2025, Regina re-recorded "Baby Love" and called it "(Regina's Version)" because the original is not on digital outlets. Regina said this on her Facebook page: "It is a re-recording; produced by original co-writer/ producer Stephen Bray. The original is currently unavailable for streaming and that’s all I can say about it for now. We redid the song because we know how much fans have been wanting it out there again. It was very important to all of us to make that happen and we are happy that so many of you are really enjoying what we’ve done!" Well, we love it, and we are happy to support Regina! We've added the lyric video to our 2026 Poptastic Confessions YouTube Playlist ...
"Baby Love (Regina's Version)" was written by Stephen Bray, Regina Richards, and Mary Kessler. It was produced by Stephen Bray and Michael Verdick. It is available on digital outlets everywhere as "Baby Love (Regina's Version)." Buy your copy today! We've added it to our 2026 Poptastic Confessions Playlist on Spotify.
Beat of love,

Talk To Me and Sexistential by Robyn
Dear Poptastic Readers,
Happy Wednesday! Sweden's Robyn released two new songs today! Glory be! They are called "Talk To Me" and "Sexistential." Both songs are from her forthcoming album also titled Sexistential due in March. The first single from the album was "Dopamine", which was #19 in our Top 101 Songs of 2025.
Up first is "Talk To Me." We absolutely love this song. It is upbeat and instantly catchy. We will be singing it all day. The music is bit funky with a pop chorus. The music is really fun as Robyn is dancing around with dancers. This is so good. Watch it on our 2026 Poptastic Confessions YouTube Playlist ...
"Sexistential" is Robyn rapping, and well, the lyrics are bit funny and very adult-themed as the F-word is used many times. It is rather funny, and the beat is dope. It is very remincient of her song "Konichiwa Bitches." We've added the lyric video to our 2026 Poptastic Confessions YouTube Playlist ...
"Talk To Me" was written by Klas Ahlund, Martin Sandberg, Oscar Holter, and Robyn Carlsson. It was produced by Klas Ahlund and Oscar Holter. "Sexistential" was written and produced by Klaus Ahlund and Robyn. They are available for purchase on digital outlets everywhere. Buy your copy today. We've added them to our 2026 Poptastic Confessions Playlist on Spotify.

You'll Never Love Me Again and I Let You Go by Jupiter Pulse
Dear Poptastic Readers,
While we were doing our countdown in December, Jupiter Pulse released a new song with Ann Seeza called "You'll Never Love Me Again." Then on January 2, Jupiter Pulse released another new song with David Adavi called "I Let You Go." We'll review both songs here ...
First up is "You'll Never Love Me Again" featuring Ann Seeza. This epic mid-tempo pop song has a wonderful, haunting melody. Anna gives an outstanding vocal performance. The lyrics are about a past love who will never come back. We quite like this. We've added the official audio to our 2026 Poptastic Confessions YouTube Playlist ...
Now for the next song ...
Next up is "I Let You Go" featuring David Adavi. This picks up the pace and like the previous song, the lyrics are also about a past love, but this time the singer regrets letting go. The music is quite good, and David sounds amazing. We really like this too! The official audio is also on our 2026 Poptastic Confessions YouTube Playlist ...
Both "You'll Never Love Me Again" and "I Let You Go" were written by Juan Pedro Pérez Gallego, and produced by FMD. They are available for purchase on digital outlets everywhere. Buy your copy today. We've added them to our 2026 Poptastic Confessions Playlist on Spotify.

Newcomers: The newcomers to our Top 21 this year were: Color Buzz, Inga's Affairs, Saint Etienne, Confidence Man, Shygirl, Ferris Pier, Izzy Bizu, Alison Goldfrapp, Tom Aspaul, Christine and the Queens, and Cerrone.

Most consecutive years on the countdown: Dolly Style may not have always been in our Top 21, but they have been on our countdown every year since 2015. Now they have a #1. We will be featuring a new song from them this week.
Who was missing this year? Australian artist Carda has been in our Top 21 for the last 7 years. That's right, from 2018 to 2024, Carda was always in our Top 21. However, he took 2025 off from releasing music. He promises more tunes in 2026.

9 artists from Sweden
8 artists from the UK
2 artists from Australia
2 artists from France
1 artist from Denmark
1 artist from Norway
