Today is Poptastic Confessions' 15th anniversary! HOORAY! A big thank you to our readers, as well as our followers on social media. Also, thank you to the artists who have filled our blog and playlists with music for the past 15 years.
We started the blog as a way to feature independent artists, veteran artists, dance artists, or artists from other countries. We like to think that Poptastic Confessions brings you music that you might have not heard of before.
No, we don't get paid. Neither the blog nor our social media is monetized. We do the blog out of our love for music and the artists who inspire us.

FLORA SUMMERS
Flora Summers is an independent artist from Sweden. She first captured our hearts as one half of the duo Isle Of You. We absolutely loved "Change Of Heart" (#2 in our Top Songs of 2019), and "Fallback" (#2 in 2021). As a solo artist, she has provided us with hours of listening to her music. Our favourites have been "Sweet Summer Feels" (#8 in 2023) and "Image" with Color Buzz (#3 in 2025). Also, check out "Little While Longer" and "Obsessions." We also know that Flora has a new song coming soon!
JOHN von AHLEN of PARRALOX
We have loved Parralox since 2014 with their song "Crying On The Dancefloor" featuring Francine (#2 in 2014). Davearama interviewed John in 2015 and met him in Australia in 2019. Parralox's song "Electric Nights" was #1 in 2017. FRANCINE BELLE
We first came to love Francine when she was in the short-lived group called The Face with their only single "Love Stuck" with Dream Beats. We followed her on social media, and that led us to her collaboration with Parralox: "Crying On The Dancefloor" (#2 in 2014). Francine's solo work has really impressed us. "Beautiful Heights" was #1 in 2018. Also, check out her songs "Diamond", "Shame The Devil", "Melody", "Storm", "Trigger", and "You Can." We can't wait to see what is next for Francine!
BETTY BOO
The amazing Betty Boo is most known for her 90s megahits: "Doin' The Do", "Where Are You Baby?", and "Hey DJ/I Can't Dance (To That Your Music You're Playing)" with the Beatmasters. However, when she came back 30 years later (2022) after her second album, it was like Boomania all over again. Her big comeback song "Get Me To The Weekend" was #1 in our Top Songs of 2022. "Shining Star" was right behind at #4. Check out review of her last album Rip Up The Rulebook.
MARTIN ROLINSKI
Martin was a member of the Swedish group Bodies Without Organs (BWO) from 2004 to 2009. In fact, he was the lead singer. But he is more than a singer, he is an artist. Sadly, BWO stopped making music together 2 years before Poptastic Confessions started. We hope they return as the world needs more BWO. But for now, Martin and Alcazar member Tess Merkel tour and record under then names but also as BWO vs Alcazar. This year, they released their first single "Let There Be Love" and we do indeed love it. Our favourite BWO songs: "Lay Your Love On Me", "Conquering America", "Temple Of Love", "Rhythm Drives Me Crazy", and "Right Here Right Now." Also from Martin's solo work, check out "Blame It On A Decent Matter" and "In And Out Of Love."
ANNIKAFIORE & ALCAZAR
Annikafiore wasn't able to send us a video greeting this time, but last summer she sent us this wonderful video with the original lineup of Alcazar. Annikafiore plays an important part of the history of Poptastic Confessions as our first blog post in June 2011 was about her debut solo EP Preaching To The Choir. Annikafiore was also our first interview in the blog in 2011. Annikafiore also had our #1 song of 2011 with "Don't Wanna C U 2nite." Annikafiore was an original member of Alcazar and our favourite songs by them are "Crying At The Discoteque", "Sexual Guarantee", "Don't You Want Me", "Not A Sinner Nor A Saint", "This Is The World We Live In", "Physical", "Menage A Trois", "Alcastar", and "Start The Fire." Of course, Annikafiore was back at the #1 spot with Alcazar in 2024 with their song "Just Like That (I Like It)." We just love her!
WHIGFIELD
The legendary dance artist Whigfield (aka Sannie Carlson) may be best known for her 90s international megahits "Saturday Night", "Another Day", and "Think Of You." However, we spend more time with her more current music! Her latest is the amazing "Suga" and it is FABULOUS! We've also loved her songs "4ever" (#4 in 2012), "In The Morning" (#14 in 2016), "Boys And Girls" (#11 in 2018) plus, her 2012 album W still gets played often for us because it is filled with BANGERS!
CARDA
Carda is an Australian independent artist who is currently based in London. When we started an Instagram account in 2018, Carda found us and we immediately liked his music. Funnily enough, it was 8 years and 2 days ago that we first featured Carda in the blog. Yesterday, he released his new song "Future History" with Jack Newsome. Some of our favourite songs from Carda are "Never Let You Go" with Maddy Tab (#10 in 2018), "Caught Up" with Cirillo (#19 in 2019), "Need You Now" with Keeks (#16 in 2020), "Giving You Half" with Liam Ferrari (#14 in 2021), "This Ain't Love" featuring Thimlife (#20 in 2022), "Back To You" (#2 in 2023), and "I Should've Said" (#14 in 2024). Carda holds the record for being in our Top 21 countdown for the most consecutive years. 7 years!
FANACY of RIKKY DISCO
Sweden's shimmering duo Rikky Disco is made up of Fanny (Fanacy) and Chris. They have been making lush, glamorous disco delights for many years now and we are always excited when they have a new release. Also, most of their songs sound different from each other, yet they still sound like Rikky Disco. Their song "Deep In Love" was #1 in our Top Songs of 2021. Also check out "Love Hangover" (#13 in 2022), "I Want You Back" (#7 in 2025), "Expectations" (#26 in 2025). This year, they have already released these gems: "It's My Style", "Monte Carlo", and "Feel You On The Dancefloor."
CHRIS TALL of RIKKY DISCO
Chris is also one half of Rikky Disco, but he also releases music under the name Chris Tall. We first found out about Chris in 2017 with his amazing song "Lucy (Sun Goes Up)", which was #7 in our Top Songs of 2017. Check out these other fun songs: "Dancin' Alive" (#9 in 2021), "Dancing In My Head" (#20 in 2025), and "Weekend" with Jerusalem (#24 in 2018).
JP of INGA's AFFAIRS & JUPITER PULSE
JP had 2 groups: Inga's Affairs and Jupiter Pulse. Inga's Affairs is bit more fun with lyrics that can be both funny and naughty. The lyrics of Jupiter Pulse can be a bit more serious. Either way, JP has put out some great music in the past 2 years. Our favourite has been "Olé Olé" (#4 in 2025), "Demons In My Mind" featuring David Adavi, "Antonio", "Sabado Noche", "Boys Boys Boys", "Fuego", and "Resaca." This year, we have really liked "Calling To The Aliens" and "Tomorrow Will Be Late."
NORMSKI
Normski is part of the Poptastic Confessions Collective. He is often there to give us updates and news of UK Girl Groups, which we love so much. Davearama and Normski have been friends for many years over their love for Bananarama. In fact, they have done joint reviews of Bananarama's last 2 studio albums: In Stereo in 2019 and Masquerade in 2022. Normski also helps us decide the year-end countdown. Thank you, Normski! You are an amazing person, and a fantastic friend!
DAVEARAMA
Davearama is the founder of Poptastic Confessions. He always loved pop music but tended to root for the underdog. Thus, his enduring love for Bananarama is where he got his nickname. He wanted a way to share the music he loved with everyone. Poptastic Confessions did that and more. "It opened my mind to different types of pop music from all over the world. The last 15 years has been quite the amazing journey. When the world is tough, it can feel a bit weird running an entertainment blog. But the world needs happiness and good music. That is our lane."
