Habibi by Dolly Style

Dear Poptastic Readers,

The sugary sweet Dolly Style has a new song out called "Habibi." They entered the song in Sweden's Melodifestivalen: the country's selection for the Eurovision Song Contest.

Before we get to the song, we mentioned that there had been another lineup change back in December during our countdown when their song "L-O-V-E" came in at #6 in our Top 100 Songs of 2018. Yes, there is a new Polly, we call her Polly 4. Perhaps the 3 previous Pollys should start a new pop group called Polly Style! haha

Dolly Style: Version 6.0: Holly 2, Polly 4, Molly 2

Now on to the song! "Habibi" is an Arabic term that literally means "my love." You can guess by the title that there are some Moroccan sounds in the music, but in typical Dolly Style fashion, it is pure bubble gum. Check out their Melodifestivalen performance ...

Wasn't that fun? Yes, it was! Good News! "Habibi" is available on digital outlets everywhere! Buy your copy today! We've gone ahead and added it to our 2019 Poptastic Confessions Playlist on Spotify. Enjoy!~

Cheers then,
—Davearama

This Is How We Party by R3hab & Icona Pop

Dear Poptastic Readers,

We are on a kick with pop duos! Recently, we have highlighted new music from these pop duos: Bananarama, Glass Slipper*, Carda & Crillio**, Pet Shop Boys, Isle Of You, Magdalena Bay, Rebecca & Fiona, and Reyna. Today, we bring you the new Icona Pop song called "This Is How We Party" with Dutch DJ R3hab.

You might remember Icona Pop from their 2012 mega hit "I Love It." We last featured Icona Pop in Poptastic Confessions in 2013. Their song "All Night" came in at #14 in our year-end countdown, and "Girlfriend" came in at #33. In 2016, Icona Pop came in at #31 of our Top 100 Girl Groups

Icona Pop

We haven't heard of R3hab before, but we might after this. One thing for sure is he is VERY good looking. Swoon!

R3hab

"This Is How We Party" is actually a remake (sort of) of a 1998 song by the Danish pop sister duo S.O.A.P. The chorus is used from that song, while new verses comprise the new dance version. Check out the video ...

"This Is How We Party" is available on digital outlets everywhere. Support the artists and buy your copy today! We've added it to our 2019 Poptastic Confessions Playlist on Spotify. Woo!

Heartbeat by Reyna

Dear Poptastic Readers,

Happy Valentine's Day! What a great day to fall in love with Reyna. Their new song is called "Heartbeat." They are deeply fab, the new song is awesome, too! Our contributor Jason F also alerted us to this gem. Thanks, Jason!

Reyna is Gab and Vic

Who is Reyna? Well, they are a Mexican-American sister-act duo based in Milwaukee (by way of Texas). They used to record under the name Vic and Gab, but they changed their name. Read about that and more in Billboard.

"Heartbeat" is a fabulous song that starts off a bit slow and builds into a fun, glorious pop song. They have a wicked sense of humor in the music video. This is adorable, culturally significant, and slightly creepy in a funny way. We love it. Check it out ...

"Heartbeat" is available on digital outlets everywhere. Support the artist and buy your copy today! We've added it (along with some other Reyna songs) to our 2019 Poptastic Confessions Playlist on Spotify. Woo!

Introducing Magdalena Bay

Dear Poptastic Readers,

Our contributor Jason alerted us to a group called Magdalena Bay. He told us we might like them because their music reminds him of Le Kid. And we don't disagree. They have new song out called "Money Lover", and in December they had a song out called "Ghost."

Magdalena Bay are Mica and Matthew

Who is Magdalena Bay? They are a duo composed of Mica Tenenbaum and Matthew Lewin. They've known each other since high school in Florida. Now they are based in Los Angeles.

Let's start with the latest: "Money Lover." It is a mid tempo, cool pop song. It has lovely melody. Watch out for the saxophone solo! Check out the super cute video here ...

"Ghost" is a bit faster of a track, and has both male and female vocals. It also has a lovely melody. See the video here ...

Also last year, they had a song out called "The Girls." It is also quite the pop gem. Watch the video here ...

If that all isn't enough, they have 2 EPs out called day/pop and night/pop. Don't miss the songs "Waking Up", "#wastehistime", and their Tears For Fears cover "Head Over Heels."

Change Of Heart by Isle Of You

Dear Poptastic Readers,

We must thank Scandipop for this one: "Change Of Heart" by Isle of You is exactly the pop we love and were craving to hear. We were hooked at first listen. We think you will be, too!

Isle Of You is Ida and Elina

We hadn't heard of Isle Of You before. We also noticed that when you say their name out loud, it sounds like "I love you!" How clever is that? They are best friends from Sweden and they have 4 other songs on Spotify, 3 of which were from last year. We are bummed that we missed them last year.

Their new song "Change Of Heart" is about heartbreak. It has emotional verses, an unusual bridge, and an AMAZING chorus. Their voices sound great together. The video is fab, too. Just have a look ...

Um, yes! Hello! We want them as our best girlfriends ASAP! "Change Of Heart" is available on digital outlets everywhere. Buy your copy today. We've added it to our 2019 Poptastic Confessions Playlist on Spotify. We also went ahead and sprinkled their 2018 songs ("Backseat Ceremony", "Bodyguard", and "Skintight") on our 2019 list, too. Enjoy!~

Everywhere by Sawyer

Dear Poptastic Readers,

A pop duo called Sawyer had just released a brilliant cover of Fleetwood Mac's song "Everywhere."

Sawyer is Emma and Kel

Sawyer is a Nashville-based female duo composed of Emma and Kel. We love the original version so we were happy to give this a spin and we are glad we did. Have a listen ...

Pretty good, eh? "Everywhere" isn't available on digital outlets everywhere, but it is on Spotify as well as quite a bit of their offerings from the last 5 years. We've added "Everywhere" to our 2019 Poptastic Confessions Playlist on Spotify. Enjoy!~

If you like Fleetwood Mac covers, don't forget about the dreamy remake of  "Dreams" by Parralox. It was #29 in our Top 100 songs of 2018.

Give Stupidity A Chance by Pet Shop Boys

Dear Poptastic Readers,

The Pet Shop Boys dropped a new song today called "Give Stupidity A Chance" from their forthcoming EP Agenda.

"Give Stupidity A Chance" as singer Neil Tennant said is "a satirical song about the poor quality of political leadership in the modern world." We think it is brilliant. Watch the lyric video here ...

Wasn't that awesome? Yes, it was. Back in in 2006, the group also had a similar themed political song out called "I'm With Stupid."

Apparently the Agenda EP is out on Friday. The group will release a new song every day this week until Friday. These songs will not be included on their forthcoming album, which is due out in the autumn.
