The Healing (The Apx Remix) by Jody Watley

Dear Poptastic Readers,

After last night's awful presidential debate in America, we could all use some healing right now. The Queen of Cool Jody Watley has a new remix for her latest single "The Healing." The Apx remix is available in a radio edit as well as an extended remix. And it comes with a glorious new single cover. Isn't it fab?

The Apx is a faster paced remix to the Redtop Remix that was released earlier this year. It seems like there are less vocals, but maybe they are just rearranged differently. No matter, this is a fun and funky version of the song and we like it. Have a listen ...

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yHXLQ6iOtiM

"The Healing" was written by Jody, and the remix was produced by The Apx. It is available on digital outlets everywhere. Buy your copy today. "The Healing"  is on our 2020 Poptastic Confessions Playlist on Spotify. You'll also hear Jody's song "Weigh On Me" with SRL on the playlist, too!

We were quite delighted to hear "No Time." It's another dark electro track with a beautiful, haunting melody and a deep groove. The music video is a cartoon affair. Have a look ...

Wasn't that nice? Yes it was. "No Time" was written and produced by Amy Dowdle, Joshua Dowdle (aka Lastlings), and Cassian Stewart Kasimba. It is available on digital outlets everywhere. One Day, Maybe by Alice D

 Dear Poptastic Readers,

Alice D just released another new single today! YAY! The song is called "One Day, Maybe" and it is perfect as we transition seasons from end of summer to autumn.

"One Day, Maybe" is a dreamy pop song with a wonderful melody. Alice's vocals are warm and inviting. The music has a retro feel to it. The lyrics are a bit of heartbreak, but the feel of the song doesn't make you sad. Instead, it is self empowering. Girl Power.
The music video is a lot of fun as it is a day at the beach with Alice. Just have a look ...

"One Day, Maybe" was written by Alice D and Tim Blok, who also produced the track. It is available on digital outlets everywhere. Buy your copy today. We've added it to our 2020 Poptastic Confessions Playlist on Spotify. You'll also hear other Alice D songs there. Enjoy!~

Jag Mår Bra Nu by Molly Sandén featuring Newkid

Dear Poptastic Readers,

This is our 1000th post! WOOOOOOOO!

Hopefully you saw the movie Eurovision Song Contest: The Story of Fire Saga on Netflix and loved the music as much as we did. Swedish singer Molly Sandén is the voice behind Rachel McAddams' character. We featured the song "Húsavík (My Hometown)" last month. Molly has a new song in Swedish called "Jag Mår Bra Nu" and we think you're going to like it, we do.

"Jag Mår Bra Nu" translates into "I feel good now" and it is duet between her and another Swedish artist by the name of Newkid. The song is quite good, even though we don't understand Swedish. Check out the music video ...

Wasn't that fun? "Jag Mår Bra Nu" was written by Molly, Alex Ferrer, Kevin Högdahl, and Victor Thell, who also produced the track. We've added it to our 2020 Poptastic Confessions Playlist on SpotifyEnjoy!~

Crying At The Discotheque by Sophie Ellis-Bextor

 Dear Poptastic Readers,

Sophie Ellis-Bextor has gone and covered the 2001 classic track by Alcazar called "Crying At The Discoteque." Sadly, Sophie's spelling of discoteque has added the dreadful h. Thankfully, the cover isn't as dreadful as the spelling.

Sophie's cover has a classic disco sound. In case you didn't know, the original song sampled the music from a 1979 disco hit called "Spacer" by Sheila B. Devotion, which was produced by Chic. Sophie's version doesn't sample the original song, but it does recreate it. Besides missing the spoken middle part (originally done by Alexander Bard from Army Of Lovers), it is a faithful cover. Oct. 29 update: Watch the music video ...

"Crying At The Discotheque" was written by Alexander Bard, Anders Hansson, Anders Wollbeck, Bernard Edwards, Michael Goulos, and Nile Rodgers. Sophie's version was produced by Barry Stone. It is available on digital outlets everywhere. Buy your copy today. We've added it to our 2020 Poptastic Confessions Playlist on Spotify. Enjoy!~

You might remember that former Alcazar member Annikafiore covered "Crying At The Discoteque" in 2012. It was #2 in our Top Songs of 2012. Check it out.

Sacrifices by Carda featuring Jordan Powers

Dear Poptastic Readers,

Australian artist Carda (aka Adrian Cardamone) is back with his third single of 2020. His new single is called "Sacrifices" and it features singer Jordan Powers. We weren't familiar with her, so we looked her up. She is  a singer/songwriter from Los Angeles.

"Sacrifices" is snappy pop song with fun beat with a great melody. It will you moving and grooving in no time. Jordan's vocals are quite nice. The song is about making sacrifices for someone who clearly doesn't appreciate it. It's that realization of what's happening ... an a-ha moment if you will. Check out the lyric video that was made by another Carda (Stefan Cardamone).

"Sacrifices" was written by Carda, Jordan, Tony Ferrari, Jintae Ko, and Ryan Riback, who produced the track with Carda.

We weren't familiar with Nadia so we looked her up and she is a British rapper who has been making music since 2016. Turns out that she is a Spice Girls fan, so that it fun!

"Fearless" is an inspiring song about believing in yourself. It has a deep groove and mid-tempo beat. Melanie does a wonderful job with her first verse. Nadia joins in for the chorus, and she takes the second verse with a different melody. We quite like it. Their vocals sound really good together. The music video has Melanie and C driving around in a convertible Mustang. You might even notice the Spice Girls figurines on the dashboard. Annie is back with her 4th, yes 4th single, this year called "The Streets Where I Belong." The previous singles were "American Cars", "The Bomb", and "Dark Hearts." All 4 of these singles are from her forthcoming album also called Dark Hearts.

"The Streets Where I Belong" is very dreamy mid-tempo number that tells a love story between Annie and Johnny, although it is actually a true story about her boyfriend named Tore who passed away in 2001 when he was 23. This is a lovely tune, and heartbreaking story. We can't get enough.

Update: The music video is out! It just pulls you in emotionally. Check it out ...

Another update: If the slow pace isn't your thing, there is now an F9 Remix that gives the song a dance beat without losing any of the emotions. Check it out ...

Better Break My Heart by Rhys

Dear Poptastic Readers,

While listening to Clara Mae's new album Drunk On Emotions on Spotify earlier this week, this song came on after the album was over and we really liked it. It was "Better Break My Heart" by Rhys. We had no idea about her, so we did some researching.

Who is Rhys? Well she is a Swedish American artist who started releasing music in 2016. So what is the "Better Break My Heart" like? It's a fun guitar pop song that is instantly catchy while being about heartbreak. We like to call it a fun sad song. Check out the music video here ...
