Happy 50th Birthday, Davearama!

Dear Poptastic Readers,

Happy 50th Birthday to Davearama!

In case you didn't know, Davearama is the editor and founder of Poptastic Confessions! We asked him to celebrate his big 5-0 with listing his favorite 50 songs that have been featured in Poptastic Confessions over the past 8 and a half years. Woo!

Love, Truth & Honesty,
—Sausi O' Sullivan and the Poptastic Confessions Collective

Thanks, Sausi! It was hard to come up with the list, but here are the 50 songs that have changed my life since I started this blog back in 2011. I did it in a hurry so placements not really exact. Enjoy!~

Cheers then,

—Davearama

1. “Don’t Wanna C U 2nite” by Annikafiore. This song sort of started the blog for me and in the process I became good friends with Annika. The SoundFactory Mix is amazing! I hope new music is just around the corner from her.

2. “Crying On The Dancefloor” by Parralox featuring Francine. This was my introduction to Parralox and it holds a special place in my heart. I’m a big Parralox fan now and I was over the moon to meet John last year in Australia.

3. “Nightlife” by Jody Watley. Jody’s music has been part of the soundtrack to my life and this was an exciting new chapter. Jody was very appreciative of us helping her promote her music. This song still brings me such much joy!

4. “Now Or Never” by Bananarama. This gem is often forgotten because it doesn’t appear on an album, but it has the goosebumps factor. I love it.

5. “America” by Le Kid. Oh how I loved this short-lived group. This song was so good!

6. “Change Of Heart” by Isle Of You. I went bonkers for this song last year and I still never tire of hearing it.

7. “Surge” by Glass Slipper. I love this because it was the debut song by Glass Slipper who met because of Poptastic Confessions. Lisa calls me their fairy godmother, and I LOVE that.

8. “Taped Up Heart” by KREAM featuring Clara Mae. This is a jam! We never tire of hearing it and Clara Mae has an amazing voice.

9. “Offline” by Alice D. I would have chose "Moving On" but it isn't on Spotify, so I chose her song from last year that I still keep singing. Check it out ...

10. “Don’t Try To Steal My Limelight” by Miss Inga featuring La Camilla and Dominika. They later changed their name to Happy Hoes, but were over quickly thereafter. This song is hilarious.

11. “Union” by Rebecca & Fiona. Such a strange song and video. Loved everything about it.

12. “Be Kind” by Stonebridge & Crystal Waters. They lyrics are especially meaningful to me. Crystal’s vocals get me every time.

13. “Would You Believe” by Ace Of Base. Such a fun song. Every time I hear it, I hope they get back together.

14. “Rollercoaster” by Dolly Style. Should have won Melodifestivalen and Eurovision! In my world, it did.

15. “Electric Nights” by Parralox. Absolutely love this song. Such a belter.

16. “Stuff Like That” by Bananarama. A big comeback for my favourite group. A disco stomper indeed.

17. “Alarms” by Daphne & Celeste. Such a weird song with chorus that changes words. The video is super cute.

18. “Cara Mia” by Annie. Such a hypnotic song. I want an extended mix that lasts 10 minutes.

19. “Not Giving Up” by The Saturdays. Proud of them for giving the fans what they wanted, even though it didn’t set the charts on fire. It is a choon though!

20. “The Mood” by Jody Watley featuring SRL. At the end of 2016, there was a lot to be sad about with the US elections. This song helped get my head in a good space. I wonder why the music video isn't online anymore.

21. “Beautiful Heights” by Francine. Still hard to believe this all acapella with beats. Such a beautiful song.

22. “Cherry Gum” by Dolly Style. Those naughty lyrics. The dance routine — yes, I know it! Haha

23. “Ymbelydredd” by Gwenno. So dreamy this one is. Always reminds me of foggy summer San Francisco days.

24. “Dancing With A Broken Heart” by Steps. I love belting out this chorus. And the key change!

25. “Beat Of My Drum” by Nicola Roberts. That beat. That bass. The shouting chorus. That music video! All AMAZING!

26. “Lucy (Sun Goes Up)” by Chris Tall. This always gets me up and dancing. I love VW Beetles like on the cover. I also had a convertible named Lucy, too.

27. “The Way I Loved You” by REYNA. Love this song. The music video was so clever.

28. “Good Lovin” by Alcazar. A different song for Alcazar and Lina took a more prominent vocal, and we loved it.

29. “Never Let Me Go” by The Human League. With Susan and Joanne on lead vocals, it was a great to hear them in the modern pop song.

30. “4ever” by Whigfield. Such a cute song. Makes me all happy to hear it.

31. “We Are Young” by Le Kid. This was the last song from this fun group. Still a lot of fun.

32. “Wearing Nothing” by Dagny. Recently heard this again and I forgot how amazing it is. The music video is something else …

33. “Echoes” by Ulrika. Such an amazing vocal performance. Loved the melody and ultra big chorus.

34. “Freedom” by Sugababes. This was the last of 4.0 and this dup-step pop had us raising our hands.

35. “I’m Not Her” by Clara Mae. Another one that Clara just pulled us into.

36. “Casually” by Alyx Ander & Redondo featuring Maria Z. So much fun. Super cute music video, too.

37. “Elevation” by Erasure. A grand return. Perfect summer night song.

38. “Rockin’ The Ride” by Army Of Lovers. If only for La Camilla’s middle talking bit … EPIC!

39. “Love 2 Live” by Annikafiore. A fun, quirky song that makes me smile. Annikafiore edited the video herself. So fab!

40. “Hold Tight” by Isle Of You. Brilliant all around.

41. “Never Let You Go” by Carda featuring Maddy Tab. From that opening line, I knew this was going to be something special. And it is!

42. “Higher Than The Sun” by Dada Life. I love singing this at the top of my lungs!

43. “My Boyfriend’s Clothes” by Christie & The Dream Beats! Can’t forget Dream Beats and this lovely whistle song.

44. “Love Is All …” by Infernal. The lyrics to this one have made me cry before. It is very powerful. And a great vocal performance.

45. “Boo Shuffle” by The Pipettes. Best memory of this is singing along and doing the dance routine in a pool in Costa Rica.

46. “Waiting In Vain” by Jody Watley. The perfect song for a chill, relaxed mood.

47. “I Forgot” by Clara Mae. Clara completes here holy trinity with this one. I won’t forget it.

48. “All Night” by Icona Pop. The feeling I get when I hear this raw energy is fantastic.

49. “Love Is Free” by Robyn & La Bagatella Magique featuring Maluca. Boom-chica-boom! That bass! I’m gonna give it to you baby!

50. “Stop Me From Falling” by Kylie Minogue featuring Gente de Zona. Kylie combined so many genres here and it worked.

I hope you enjoyed my list of 50 song that have been featured over the past 8 and half years. There were 5 songs not on Spotify, so I included these 5 extras on the Spotify playlist.

“Hair Down” by Mollie King. I just want to a put on a wig so I can whip my hair around. I'm a bit sad the music video isn't on YouTube anymore.

“U-Turn” by Tegan & Sara. Such a fun song.

“Me and My Microphone” by September. Short and sweet. Cute video, too ...

“Girl Gone Wild" by Madonna. Cyndi Lauper still wants her lyrics back. What a delight this one is.

“Call Me Maybe” by Carly Rae Jepsen. Yes, this one was super popular, but we felt like we knew it before everyone else did. And those glorious strings and catchy chorus.

“Safe And Sound” by Captial Cities. Sure, this is another popular one. Recently heard it again and it is safe and sound to say that it is one hell of a song.
