Disco Love by The Saturdays

Dear Poptastic Readers,

Great news! The Saturdays have redeemed themselves after releasing the floptastic "Gentleman" single earlier this summer. I tried to like "Gentleman" because I love The Saturdays, but at the end of the day, it just wasn't very good. Not so for their new song "Disco Love!" I think it is brilliant!

Perhaps the US will give them another try. The video for "Disco Love" premiered on YouTube and it wasn't made available in America. Enough fans complained and now it is available. Hopefully, the single will be released on US iTunes. The release date is October 6th. Hopefully that will get pushed up.

Here is the poptastic video ...

Cheers then,

P.S. Their first single this year was called "What About Us" and I loved it. It went to #1 in the UK!

It Could've Been Me by The Boy Least Likely To ft Gwenno

Dear Poptastic Readers,

Double plus good! Not only does Gwenno have a new video for "Despenser St," she is also featured on the new song "It Could've Been Me" by The Boy Least Likely To. Yay!

The song is a duet about two people who went to high school together and meet up years later. He didn't have the courage then to ask her out. And she didn't know that he liked her. The lyrics are clever and they certainly make it sound so easy. The video is super cute!

Makes you want to order fish 'n chips, eh?

You are in luck! "It Could Have Been Me" is available on iTunes. Please support the artists by legally downloading the song!

Cheers then,
—Davearama

P.S. Read my interview with Gwenno from last year!

Despenser St video by Gwenno

Dear Poptastic Readers,

Hooray! There is a music video for "Despenser St" by Gwenno! The track is one of my favourites from her "Ymbelydredd" EP last summer. Click on the title of the EP to read my review of it. All of the songs are great, and it is available on iTunes and other online outlets so there is no reason for you not to have it. Plus, the title track was #3 in my favourite songs of 2012!

The artwork for "Ymbelydredd."

As you might remember, I interviewed Gwenno last year for Poptastic Confessions. Click on the link to read the full interview, but here is what Gwenno had to say about the song ...

That song in particular is quite funny I think! Even though it’s all true, what happened is quite traumatic (from collapsing ceilings to attempted murders by a drunk) but comical somehow because we survived and it was just a ridiculous situation. I don’t know, I think I just wanted to make light of quite a bad time and turn it into something positive. We can all laugh about it now, and I think that’s what’s important.

This is the cover I made for my iTunes artwork.

Now please remember, the song is sung in Welsh. If you would like to read the lyrics in Welsh as well as the English translation, please check out Gwenno's blog.

The video was made for a TV show called Ochr 1. It's just Gwenno and her keyboard, her iPhone, a microphone and a string of lights. And it works! Here is the video ...

"Despenser St" and the "Ymbelydredd" EP are available on iTunes. Please support the artist.

As you might remember, Gwenno was part of The Pipettes! Her sister Ani was also in The Pipettes. Ani is currently fronting a new band called The Lovely Wars and they have a great EP and single out this summer called "Young Love." Click on the link to read my review.

Cheers then,

P.S. I've also just learned that Gwenno is featured on a new song by group The Boy Least Likely To. Stay tuned for another post!

Love Is All We Need available for download.

Dear Poptastic Readers,

I took some time off from the blog again. And while we were gone, new songs from Katy Perry and Lady Gaga were released. And while they might be burning up the charts, I'll like to offer up another song that is better than both of them, but not so popular.

Amelle from the Daily Star interview

Singer/songwriter Amelle Berrabah has a new song out with DJ Adam J and Nightcrashers. It's a dance track with a lovely melody. And the song should be just as popular as the Katy Perry and Lady Gaga new songs.

The song is called "Love Is All We Need" and it has been featured twice before in Poptastic Confessions. Here and here.

Amelle is part of one of my favorite UK girl groups: the Sugababes. The group is currently on hiatus. I really hope Amelle, Heidi and Jade will get back together.

Jade, Heidi and Amelle are the Sugbabes.

But in the meantime, Amelle will do her solo thing with a new album and a solo single this fall. But for now, check out her new song. It is available on iTunes. Please support the artist!

And remember ... Love is all we need. And you can buy it on iTunes! ~;-)

Cheers then,
