Lost by Clara Mae

Dear Poptastic Readers,

Swedish singer/songwriter, artist-extraordinaire Clara Mae is back with new single called "Lost."

We've been covering Clara Mae's solo career since 2016 with her song "Strip." Since then, we've loved her songs "Taped Up Heart" and "I'm Not Her" in 2017, and "Better Me Better You" and "I Forgot" in 2018.

"Lost" doesn't stray too far from the sound Clara Mae has made for herself. Having said that, it doesn't feel tired or stale. In fact, one of the things we like most about Clara Mae, besides her beautiful voice, is that she can deliver the emotion with a catchy chorus. Check out the video for "Lost" here ...

Wasn't that lovely? Yes it was! "Lost" is available on digital outlets everywhere. Buy your copy today. We've added it to our 2019 Poptastic Confessions Playlist on Spotify. Enjoy!~

Stockholm by Henrikes

Dear Poptastic Readers,

You might remember in back in December we featured a Beatle's cover by Swedish artist Henrikes. Well, she's back with her new song called "Stockholm."

"Stockholm" is a sweet song that is an ode to the city and the seasons. It's a love song. Henrikes gives a passionate performance. It was written by Josefin Henriques, Märta Grauers (formerly of Le Kid), and Maria Marcus.

May 5, 2019 UPDATE: Henrikes has just released her video for Stockholm and it is fab. Makes us like the song even more. Have a look ...

That was lovely? We've added "Stockholm" to our 2019 Poptastic Confessions Playlist on Spotify. You'll also hear her cover of "Blackbird" there. Enjoy!~

Cheers then,
—Davearama

Boys In The Band (Boy Band Anthem) by New Kids On The Block

Dear Poptastic Readers,

If you haven't seen the music video from New Kids On The Block, the you are missing out! It's called "Boys In The Band (Boy Band Anthem)" and we think it is quite clever of them. The song is rather catchy, too.

Who are New Kids On The Block? Well, they are a boy band from the late 80s and 90s, and we'll admit they kinda weren't our thing back then. However, they did have some catchy songs like these hits:

"You Got It (The Right Stuff)" in 1988 (UK #1, US #3)

"I'll Be Loving You (Forever)" in 1989 (UK #5, US #1)

"Hangin' Tough" in 1989 (UK #1, US #1)

"Cover Girl" in 1989 (UK #4, US #2)

"Didn't I (Blow Your Mind)" in 1989 (UK #8, US #8)

"Step By Step" in 1990 (UK #2, US #1)

"Tonight" (UK #3, US #7)

So the new song is sort of an ode to Boy Bands, and the video features Debbie (aka Deborah) Gibson, who was also a popular teen singer in the 80s. Check out the amazing video ...

Welcome back, NKOTB! "Boys In The Band (Boy Band Anthem)" is available on digital outlets everywhere. Buy your copy today. We've added it to our 2019 Poptastic Confessions Playlist on Spotify! Woo!

Stuff Like That by Bananarama

Dear Poptastic Readers,

Today Bananarama have released their new single "Stuff Like That" to the surprise of their fans. Why was it a surprise? Many fans expected the track "Love In Stereo" to be the lead single from their forthcoming album In Stereo

We are over the moon with the single choice. "Stuff Like That" is pure disco camp Bananarama-style! It's packed with attitude. The unexpected middle part as well as the added vocals to the last chorus show that Bananarama still can churn out the amazing pop tunes!

March 8 update: What a way to celebrate International Women's Day by watching the new Bananarama music video that celebrates their lifelong friendship! They used director Andy Morahan, who has directed many other videos for the group. The new video shows Sara and Keren having fun and looking gorgeous! Well done, ladies!

"Stuff Like That" is available on digital outlets everywhere. Buy your copy today and preorder their album In Stereo! We've added "Stuff Like That" to our 2019 Poptastic Confessions Playlist on Spotify

You might remember that Bananarama released the teaser track "Dance Music" in January. That song is also on our Spotify playlistEnjoy!

Victorious by Lina Hedlund

Dear Poptastic Readers,

Alcazar singer Lina Hedlund has entered Sweden's Melodifestivalen Song Contest in a chance to represent Sweden in the Eurovision Song Contest. Her song is called "Victorious" and we are hoping she will be!

Lina is no stranger to Melodifestivalen. She first entered in 2002 with her sister Hanna with the song "Big Time Party." In 2003, Lina entered on her own with "Nothing Can Stop Me" (notice Velvet on backing vocals). In 2007, Lina joined the Swedish group Alcazar after Annikafiore and Magnus left. Since she joined, Alcazar participated in Melodifestivalen 3 times: in 2009 with "Stay The Night", in 2010 with "Headlines", and in 2014 with "Blame It On The Disco."

To quote Scandipop: "Victorious is a revved-up Schlager powerhouse — the likes of which requires a true diva performance to really do it justice. Lina stepped up to the plate and delivered flawlessly. All hail Lina Hedlund: Saviour of Pop, 2019." We agree. Watch her performance here ...

Wasn't that fabulous? Yes, it was! "Victorious" is available on digital outlets everywhere. Buy your copy today! We've added it to our 2019 Poptastic Confessions Playlist on Spotify. Enjoy!~

Look My Way by Haywoode

Dear Poptastic Readers,

Last month, singer Haywoode released a new song that we quite like. It's called "Look My Way" and it just might sound familiar to some of you pop kids!

Who is Haywoode? She is a English singer who had a big hit in the UK in 1986 with "Roses." Apparently, she had new version of this out last year, but we missed it. D'oh!

"Look My Way" might sound familiar to you if you are a Kylie Minogue fan as it was on her debut album Kylie in 1988. Apparently the song was written by Stock Aitken Waterman with Haywoode in mind, but Kylie got first dibs. Kylie also covered a 1985 Haywoode track called "Getting Closer" for the B-side of "Locomotion." So now Haywoode covers Kylie with Matt Pop on board. Woo! Check out the colorful video ...

"Look My Way" is available on digital outlets everywhere. Buy your copy today. It has a lovely remix package. We've added the Matt Pop Edit to our 2019 Poptastic Confessions Playlist on Spotify. Woo!~

Killing My Time by G Flip

Dear Poptastic Readers,

I, Davearama, recently went to Australia to see Bananarama on tour, meet John from Parralox and Costa from Neon Nights, as well as other friends, too. While in Melbourne, I walked over to the Australian Music Vault, which is incredible display of Australian music. There is a video cube that you walk into where video plays on all 4 walls inside the cube, and of course music plays over the images. One of these songs was "Killing My Time" by G Flip.

I loved the song so much the first time, that I stayed to hear it again. I filmed it on my iPhone, but I probably can't upload it to YouTube because of copyright issues. However, I will put a clip of it on our Instagram page (link below). No worries, G Flip has her own video for it.

G Flip

Who is G Flip? She's a Melbourne singer/songwriter/artist whose real name is Georgia Flipo. We can't seem to get enough of her song "Killing My Time." Check out her super-cute music video here.

Admit it: You want to listen to it again. Go ahead. "Killing My Time" is available on digital outlets everywhere. Buy your copy today. We've gone ahead and added it (as well as G Flip's songs "About You" and "Drink Too Much") to our 2019 Poptastic Confessions Playlist on Spotify. Enjoy!

Cheers then,
