Something In Your Eyes by Steps

Dear Poptastic Readers,

Steps have released their third single from their forthcoming album called What The Future Holds. The new song is called "Something In Your Eyes." The previous singles were "What The Future Holds" and "Under My Skin."

"Something In Your Eyes" is totally ABBA! This is big, unapologetic pop that has totally captured something truly magical. Lee and H don't get to shine as much on this one as Clarie, Faye, and Lisa do, but you can at least hear them. Check out the music video here ...

Now some of you might actually know that this song is a remake! It was originally sung by Swedish singer Jenny Silver in 2011 for Sweden's Melodifestivalen selection for the Eurovision Song Contest. Watch Jenny's performance here ...

"Something In Your Eyes" was written by Erik Bernholm, Henrik Sethsson, and Thomas G:son. It was produced by Barry Stone and Julian Gingell. It is available on digital outlets everywhere. Buy your copy today! You can even pre-order the album now. It will be released in November. We've added "Something In Your Eyes" to our 2020 Poptastic Confessions Playlist on Spotify. You'll hear their previous single "What The Future Holds"  and "Under My Skin" there, too! Enjoy!~

Cheers then,

My House by Elderbrook

Dear Poptastic Readers,

We recently heard a track called “My House” by Elderbrook that we quite liked. We think you will like it, too.

Elderbrook is the stage name of talented English singer/songwriter/producer Alexander Kotz.  Best known for the 2017 club anthem, “Cola”, a collaboration with electronic duo CamelPhat, Elderbrook recently released his first full length-album, the eclectic and electro-leaningWhy Do We Shake In The Cold?

While the album ranges from broody electronica to euphoric club tracks, probably the most straight-up pop-oriented song on the album is “My House.”  Sporting the best synth stabs this side of Empire Of The Sun, the song is addictive right from the start.  Beyond just being a great earworm of a tune, the deceptively simple lyrics actually carry some interesting messages.

Of the song, Elderbrook has said:

“The song focuses on how a lot of people, if not most, always want the next bigger, better thing. Never being happy with what they’ve got. The other side to the lyrics of this song is that a lot of people never stop acting like children; ‘my house is bigger than your house’ ‘I know you are but what am I’ and the whole ‘I want’ culture. Another theme running through is my own experience with childhood and not fitting in anywhere”

Written during lockdown, the song was released as a single earlier this summer and was accompanied by the fun video below which playfully amplifies the song’s lyrics and themes. It even includes an endearingly charming bit of choreography at about the 3-minute mark!

"My House" was written by Alexander Kotz, Garret 'Jacknife' Lee, and Sophie Davies. It is available on digital outlets everywhere. Buy your copy today. We've added it to our 2020 Poptastic Confessions Playlist on Spotify

To hear more from Elderbrook, check out the equally excellent videos for "Back To My Bed" and "Why Do We Shake In The Cold?"

Only Your Love,

Conclusion by Parralox

Dear Poptastic Readers,

Parralox has released their first single of the year, and it isn't a song from either their latest albums Genesis or Holiday '19. Instead, the new single is called "Conclusion." What does it all mean? Let's find out.

"Conclusion" is actually an original Parralox song that was initially released as Parralox's John von Ahlen's 2013 side project called The Sound Of The Crowd. The album was called Life Is Calling and "Conclusion" was the last track of the album (unless you count the bonus tracks). So what is the song like? Well, it is a spooky mid-tempo electro song that has a spoken word verses by Nic Toupee with John joining in for the chorus. In a Parralox newsletter, John said "Given what's going on in the world right now, the lyrics are eerily prescient." Have a listen and watch the music video ...

"Conclusion" was written by John von Ahlen and Nic Toupee. It was produced by John von Ahlen. "Conclusion" is available on digital outlets everywhere. Buy your copy today. We've added it to our 2020 Poptastic Confessions Playlist on Spotify. You'll also hear some songs from their albums Genesis  and Holiday '19 there, too.

I Felt Love by Blue Hawaii

Dear Poptastic Readers,

We recently stumbled upon this dark electro dance house pop ditty called "I Felt Love" by Blue Hawaii. It's from the duo's latest EP called Under 1 House.

We didn't know who Blue Hawaii were so we looked them up and they are a duo composed of singer Raphaelle Standell-Preston and musician Alex "Agor" Kerby. "I Felt Love" is a timely song about communicating with someone over the phone. The music video has a 90s-indie retro feel to it and we dig it. Check it out ...

Wasn't that nice? Yes it was. "I Felt Love" is available on digital outlets everywhere. Buy your copy today! We've added it to our 2020 Poptastic Confessions Playlist on Spotify
