Higher Love by Kygo & Whitney Houston

Dear Poptastic Readers,

About 2 months ago, we heard there was a new Whitney Houston song and we weren't quite sure how we felt about it. Well, the music video was released this week and we finally checked it out. We were quite delighted. The song is called "Higher Love" and we think you'll know it.

"Higher Love" is a remake of the 1986 Steve Winwood classic. In 1990, Whitney recorded her version of this song as a bonus track for her Japanese edition of her album Be My Baby Tonight. It was never released anywhere else, nor was it on any streaming services. Apparently the Houston family approached Norwegian producer Kygo and asked him to remix the track. The result is a glorious feel-good pop anthem. Check it out in the super-cute music video ...

Pretty amazing, right? "Higher Love" is available on digital outlets everywhere. It has already hit #1 on the US Dance Chart, #2 in the UK, #9 in Sweden, and #10 in Switzerland.  Buy your copy today. We've added it to our 2019 Poptastic Confessions Playlist on Spotify. Woo!

Love, Truth & Honesty,

Sunny Day (Japanese Version) by Daphne & Celeste

Dear Poptastic Readers,

And now for something different ... Daphne & Celeste have re-recorded their fantastic song "Sunny Day" in Japanese. If that isn't fabulous enough, they've gone and released the music video for "Sunny Day" with the Japanese version!

We haven't ever featured a song sung in Japanese, so this is a first for Poptastic Confessions. So what's like? Well, a lot of extra syllables, but it works. Sadly, Daphne & Celeste aren't actually in the music video. Instead, they are Japanese animation characters dancing around in a video game. Have a look ...

Wasn't that cute? Yes, it was! Now, if you don't know the English version, which was on their fantastic album Daphne & Celeste Save The World, you can hear it here ...

We've added the Japanese version to our 2019 Poptastic Confessions Playlist on Spotify. You'll also hear the Max Tundra Extended Mix, which we featured earlier this month. Enjoy!~

Last year, Daphne & Celeste had 2 song in our Top 100 songs of 2018 ...

"Alarms" was #2 in our Top 100 Songs of 2018

"BB" came in at #22

Stay tuned in December to see where "Sunny Day" lands in our Top 100 Songs of 2019.

Cheers then,

—Davearama

Change Of Heart by Parralox

Dear Poptastic Readers,

Fantastic news! Parralox has just released their third and final single from their amazing Subculture album. The new single is the fantastic "Change Of Heart." Earlier this month, we reviewed their best-of album called Singles1.

The song has been a favourite of ours ever since we first heard it. We are very happy that it finally got a single release. The song features John on lead vocals, and Peter Wilson on backing vocals. As for the music video, a Panda goes on a funny rampage in Battery Park in New York City! He is following the footsteps of Desperately Seeking SusanYou'll want to watch it to the end to see who is in that Panda suit. Have a look ...

Wasn't that awesome? Yes, it was! The video version of "Change Of Heart" has been remixed by Italoconnection. Our favourite version of the song is still the album version. You can hear it in all its glory here ...

As for the single EP, there are also 2 more mixes by Lifelike and DMT. There is also a remix of "Paradise" by Sean Quinn. Now you might remember "Paradise" was Parralox's previous single and it was sung by Marcella Detroit (It was also Lucky #13 in our Top 100 Songs of 2018). This remix of "Paradise" features former Nova singer Lillia on lead vocals (She also sang "Give Me Back My Loving" on Subculture). The other remix is of "Voyager" sung by the lovely Louise Love.

"Change Of Heart" is available on digital outlets everywhere. Buy your copy today! We've added the remixes of "Change Of Heart" to our 2019 Poptastic Confessions Playlist on Spotify! Enjoy!~

We'd also like to take this time to point out that Parralox has done rather well on our year end countdowns. Check out these lovelies ...

"Crying On The Dancefloor" was our #2 song of 2014

"Wildlife" was our #3 song of 2015

"Astronaut" was our #9 song of 2015

"Electric Nights" was our #1 song of 2017

"Paradise" was our #13 song of 2018

Stay tuned for our 2019 countdown in December to see where "Change Of Heart" will land.

Love Eternally by Haywoode

Dear Poptastic Readers,

Haywoode is back with a new single called "Love Eternally" and it is aimed right at the dance floor. You might remember that we featured her previous single "Look My Way" back in March.

"Love Eternally" is a fun dance pop song with a great melody. Haywoode give a great vocal performance. You have your choice of which version you like best with the Project K Radio Mix, which is a bit more dance oriented, or the Matt Pop album version (featured below), which we think is more suited to pop radio. Have a listen ...

Wasn't that nice. "Love Eternally" is available on digital outlets everywhere. It even has a nice remix package by Project K and Matt Pop, as well as an instrumental version for all you karoke queens! We've added the Matt Pop version to our 2019 Poptastic Confessions Playlist on Spotify. You'll also hear her previous single "Look My Way" there. Woo!~

Singles 1 by Parralox

Dear Poptastic Readers,

It just dawned on us that we hadn't featured our favourite Australian synthpop group Parralox in Poptastic Confessions this year! Do'h! Their last single was "Paradise" in November of last year. Well, in June they released their first compilation called Singles1
, which of course features their first 10 singles.

Because we love Parralox so much, we are going to give you a track-by-track review for your reading pleasure. Woo!

1. "Sharper Than A Knife" is the 2009 original version of the song sung by the original Parralox singer Roxy. It is an amazing pop song. We never tire of hearing it. It has a great melody and the lyrics are fab, too. It is absolutely one of our favourites. It should be one of yours, too! This is the only song on the album with Roxy.

2. "Hotter" was the first single with the singer Amii. When we interviewed John of Parralox in 2015, he told us about writing the lyrics to this one:

But yes, the lyrics are total tongue in cheek. I was doing a lot of internet dating back in those days and found it so shallow how people judged a person on just a thumbnail photo. That someone’s whole life experience and value would be judged by a 100 pixel photo is ridiculous. I guess it’s a commentary on the sometimes shallow nature of humans, and the fact that we could miss the opportunity to meet our soul-mate all because they were wearing the wrong clothes that day in the photo, or their hair was parted on the wrong side etc.

Isn't that the truth! Check out the music video ...

3. "I Am Human" is an emotional pop song. It starts off sounding like a ballad, and then it builds up to a glorious chorus, and unfolds into a steady mid-tempo number. While there is no music video, you can listen here ...

4. "Isn't It Strange" has a bit of an industrial pop sound. What a great chorus! It will having you singing along in no time. The black and white video is very sleek, just have a look ...

5. "Supermagic" is one of our absolute favourites! We love this song so much. It has a great beat, catchy melody and a chorus you will sing for days. Plus, it will have you dancing around in no time. Check out the luscious music video ...

6. "I Sing The Body Electric" is another fabulous song. Imagine Depeche Mode with a female singer. We might sound like a broken record at this point saying how wonderful another track is, but it is. The music video is very mysterious. Some of the scenes were filmed out the legendary Hanging Rock. Have a look ...

7. "Creep" is the first of the next four covers. This is not the TLC song, but the Radiohead song. This did really well on the US Billboard Dance Charts. It is quite the cover as the original is sung by a male, so Amii's vocals are a fun twist, plus the electropop music makes this really cool. Here's the music video ...

8. "Sharper Than A Knife" (2012). Yes, this is a cover of the original Parralox song. This time, Amii is on lead vocals instead of Roxy.
The music has been remixed.
Best of all, there is a great music video for it, which you watch below.

There is one of the best-ever lyric videos set to the Pete Hammond Mix that you won't want to miss ...

9. "Enjoy The Silence" is a remake of the Depeche Mode classic. This was the first Parralox single with John on lead vocals. It is a pretty faithful cover and John sounds great on vocals. Check it out ...

10. "Silent Morning" featuring Ryan Adamés is the last of the tracks. This is a remake of a 1988 freestyle tune by Noel. Parralox keeps the freestyle and brings it to a new level making it a duet. This would also be the last Parralox song to feature Amii. The music video was filmed in Miami, and they all three look hot!

There is also an astonishing lyric music video. Have a look ...

That concludes the track listing of Singles1. We hope that makes you want to love Parralox as much as we do. The album is available on digital outlets everywhere. Buy your copy today. You can also listen to the album here ...

Cheers then,
