Take Me Home by VAVO featuring Clara Mae

Dear Poptastic Readers,

We aren't sure how we missed this, but Clara Mae had a dance song at the end of December with VAVO called "Take Me Home." We just heard it this week and we LOVE it! We weren't familiar with VAVO, but they are an English & Canadian DJ/producer duo.

"Take Me Home" starts off a bit somber, and there is a build up to the first chorus. It's during that chorus that the beat drops. Lyrically, the song is about having a relationship who is emotionally unavailable during the day. There is an official lyric video and you can check it out on our 2023 Poptastic Confessions Playlist on YouTube.

"Take Me Home" was written by Will Simms, Aiden Martin, Clara Mae, Jesse Fischer, Niamh Murphy, and Stephen Puth. It was produced by Stephen Puth, Will Simms, and VAVO. It is available on digital outlets everywhere. Buy your copy today! We've added it to our 2023 Poptastic Confessions Playlist on Spotify. Somebody Stole The Sun by Henrikes

Dear Poptastic Readers,

Sweden's Henrikes just had a new single out last month called "Night Train." Well, they are back with another new song and this one is called "Somebody Stole The Sun."

"Somebody Stole The Sun" is a throbbing electro pop song. Henrikes is known for their slower songs, but this picks up the pace and we are liking it quite a bit. We think the lyrics are about depression and feeling like the light in your life is missing. Having said that, it feels hopeful in a way too. At least that is our impression. The music video featured an interpretive dancer. Have a look in our 2023 Poptastic Confessions Playlist on YouTube.

"Somebody Stole The Sun" was written by Josefin Henriques and Märta Grauers. It was produced by Märta Grauers. It is available on digital outlets everywhere. Buy your copy today! We've added it to our 2023 Poptastic Confessions Playlist on Spotify. You'll also hear "Night Train" there.

Only Lovers Left Alive by Sarah von Reis

Dear Poptastic Readers,

Swedish artist Sarah von Reis is out with a new song called "Only Lovers Left Alive." You might remember that we featured her song "All My Ghosts" in January.

When we first heard the title of the song, we starting singing "Dreaming Of The Queen" by Pet Shop Boys, where the chorus is "Cos there were no more lovers left alive." Well, this isn't a remake and the 2 songs are drastically different. Sarah's songs are very slow, yet hypnotizing. They aren't pop bangers, but they are strong melodies that happily get stuck in your head. It was produced by Joakim Buddee, who has produced many songs for Isle Of You. Have a listen ...

"Only Lovers Left Alive" was written by Sarah von Reis, Ingrid Hägglund Befrits, and Joakim Buddee, who produced the track. It is available on digital outlets everywhere. Buy your copy today! We've added it to our 2023 Poptastic Confessions Playlist on Spotify.

Birthday by B*Witched

Dear Poptastic Readers,

Irish girl group B*Witched have a new single out called "Birthday." If you don't know B*Witched, or they sound vaguely familiar, their debut single "C'est La Vie" in 1998 was a UK #1 and a US #9. For the next two years, they had 7 more Top 30 hits in the UK. Now they are back!

B*Witched is made up of twin-sisters Edele and Keavy Lynch, Lindsay Armaou, and Sinéad O'Carroll. Back in their heyday, most of the songs had lead vocals by Edele. On the new song "Birthday" Lindsay and Edele share the lead vocals with little bits from Keavy, but no solo bits from Sinéad. The song is a mid-tempo bop that has a chorus that gets stuck in your head. The vocals sound a bit autotune to our ears, but not enough to turn us off. The music video takes place in a hanger. We wish they would have climbed in the white Volkswagen Beetle instead of the truck, but oh well. Watch it on our 2023 Poptastic Confessions Playlist on YouTube ...

"Birthday" was written by Danni Le Feuvre, Hamish Brodie, and Ray Hedges. It was produced by Mondo-Ray. It is available on digital outlets everywhere. Buy your copy today! We've added it to our 2023 Poptastic Confessions Playlist on Spotify

Breaking The Circle by Sophie Ellis-Bextor

Dear Poptastic Readers,

Sophie Ellis-Bextor released a new song a couple of weeks ago called "Breaking The Circle" and last week she released the music video. We are just getting around to it now. This is the first single from her forthcoming album Hana.

"Breaking The Circle" is a return to a band sound like Sophie's last 2 studio albums: Wanderlust and Familia. It's a good pop song with a nice melody. Sophie looks great in the music video. Did she borrow Betty Boo's Booettes for the video? Have a look in our 2023 Poptastic Confessions Playlist on YouTube.

Waiting For A Boy by Say Lou Lou

Dear Poptastic Readers,

It's been awhile since we heard from twin-sister dream-pop duo Say Lou Lou. They are back with new music and their new single is called "Waiting For A Boy." We were fans of them in 2014 and 2015 with their songs "Game For Girls", "Everything We Touch", and "Nothing But A Heartbeat."

"Waiting For A Boy" is also very dreamy and laid back. It's about being in love with someone who is distant, and they are waiting for attention from the said boy. The music video looks like it is from a movie. Check it out on our 2023 Poptastic Confessions Playlist on YouTube.

"Waiting For A Boy" was written by Elektra Kilbey, Miranda Kilbey (Say Lou Lou), and Jay Blynn. It was produced by Jay Blynn, Dashiell Le Francis, and Trent Mazur. It is available on digital outlets everywhere. Dance Til Tomorrow by Dolly Style

Dear Poptastic Readers,

Sweden's sugary sweet girl group Dolly Style are back with a new song called "Dance Til Tomorrow" and you can guess by the title, it is a bit of a pop banger. If you are new to Dolly Style, they are a girl group who wear pastel wigs and take on characters. Blue is Holly. Purple is Polly. Pink is Molly. The pastel wigs also help conceal the numerous line up changes over the years. So far, there have been 8 versions of Dolly Style with 4 Pollys4 Mollys, and 2 Hollys. At the end of this post, see the complete discography and lineups.

"Dance Til Tomorrow" is a fun song about having an all-night party. Sometimes you just need a fun song that isn't too deep. This is that song. It has a nice key change near the end. The music video is cute with lots of outfit changes and choreography. Check it out on our 2023 Poptastic Confessions Playlist on YouTube ...

"Dance Til Tomorrow" was written by Herman Gardarfve, Melanie Wehbe, and Patrik Jean. It was produced by Herman Gardarfve. It is available on digital outlets everywhere. Buy your copy today! We've added it to our 2023 Poptastic Confessions Playlist on Spotify
