Dear Poptastic Readers,

We've been listening to this banger for almost 2 weeks and we absolutely love it! We had a total Y2K Eurodance flashback when we first heard "Kiss Me Better" by Julie Bergan. We had to break out some of our Alice Deejay dance moves for this one. We weren't familiar with Julie, so found out she is a Norwegian artist who has been releasing music for over 10 years now.

Like me mentioned above, this glorious hi-nrg trance pop song had us reliving some of those wonderful club moments from the early 2000s where you just felt so happy on the dance floor, even when the lyrics aren't super happy. It's been awhile since we last heard from Supercub, but he is back with a new song called "I Had It All And Let It Go" and it is a remake of song originally recorded last year by Benjamin Ingrosso. It was co-written with him and Björn from ABBA!

Swedish dance legend SoundFactory has a new song out called "Keep This Fire Burning" featuring Kristian Kaspersen on vocals. When we first heard it, we thought it was BWO singer Martin Rolinski on vocals! The song is cover of a song from Robyn from her 2002 album Don't Stop The Music.

All Saints member Shaznay Lewis has released her third solo single this year from her forthcoming album Pages and it is called "Good Mourning." Take note of how that second word is spelled as it changes the meaning. You might remember that we previously featured "Miracle" and "Kiss Of Life."

"Good Mourning" is quite the upbeat song despite the lyrics being a bit sad about the end of a relationship. However, it is also about a new relationship with yourself. Rapper General Lee gets the song started in a big way. Shola takes the first verse while Shaznay take the second verse. It is hard not to get your groove on with this one. We downloaded this song a couple of weeks and thought we featured it, but then realized yesterday that we didn't. WHOOPS! Australian artist Carda has a new song out called "Sad Eyes", but don't be fooled by the title, as it isn't a ballad or even a sad song. Carda's previous single was similarly titled "Wild Eyes."

"Sad Eyes" features Loro on vocals. It starts off a bit slow as the first verse builds up to the chorus when the beat drops. It has a really nice melody and a catchy chorus. Synthpop legends Pet Shop Boys have just released their second single from their forthcoming album Nonetheless, and the song is called "Dancing Star." We featured the first single "Loneliness" at the end of January.

"Dancing Star" has a bass line that reminiscent of their first hit "West End Girls." There are many familiar sounds here, even a bit of freestyle like "Domino Dancing." As a bonus, there is even a spoken rap middle bit. We are digging it! The music video features some vintage footage mixed in with new bits featuring Neil and Chris. Norwegian artist Dagny is back with a glorious new pop song called "Strawberry Dream" and we love it. We think you will too. If you don't know Dagny, these are some of our favourites by her: "Wearing Nothing" (#3 in our Top 101 Songs of 2017), "Come Over" (#4 in our Top 101 Songs of 2020), "Somebody" (#19 in our Top 101 Songs of 2020), and "Heartbreak In The Making" (#9 in our Top 101 Songs of 2023).

"Strawberry Dream" is a fantastic pop song that is as sweet as a strawberry. However, the lyrics are a little bittersweet as it is about wanting to take a relationship to the next level when it hasn't worked the previous time. Danish duo Infernal are back with lovely new song called "Saw It All Coming." You might remember them from their 2004 megahit "From Paris To Berlin." Hard to believe that is 20 years ago now. They've had songs on our year-end countdowns, too! "Love Is All ..." was #16 in our Top Songs of 2012 and "Weightless" was #6 in our Top Songs of 2017.

"Saw It All Coming" has a trip-hop drum and bass sound over a sweet vocal melody. Even though the lyrics are a bit sad, it feels a bit hopeful and dreamy. There isn't a music video as of yet so we have added the official audio to our 2024 Poptastic Confessions YouTube Playlist.
