All I Wanna Do 2020 by Dannii Minogue

Dear Poptastic Readers,

Dannii Minogue has just released a new version (not a remix) of her 1997 hit "All I Wanna Do" in time for World Pride. How glorious!

If you aren't familiar with the original version of "All I Wanna Do", it was a huge hit in the UK going to #4 in the charts. It just missed the top 10 in Australia. It was a hi-nrg dance pop single. It was written by Brian Higgins, Stuart McLennan, Tim Powell, and Matt Gray. It was produced by Brian Higgins and Matt Gray. Watch the original music video here ...

And now for the new 2020 single version, this has been given the acoustic treatment and slowed down giving it a chill vibe, which is especially topical for this pandemic year. There is a big build about halfway so keep listening. It was produced by Ian Masterson. If dance music and remixes are your thing, don't worry: the remixes are released tomorrow. They are done by Trouser Enthusiasts and Bright Light Bright Light. Check out the lyric video for the single version here ...

"All I Wanna Do 2020" is available on digital outlets everywhere. Buy your copy today! We've added it to our 2020 Poptastic Confessions Playlist on Spotify. Enjoy!~

Cheers then,
—Davearama

Krossat Glas by Allysandra

Dear Poptastic Readers,

Former Dolly Style singer Allysandra went solo last year and we featured her first 2 singles "Off Limits" and "Himbo." This year, Allysandra has switched gears and has already released 2 new singles sung in Swedish. The latest is called "Krossat Glass" and the previous single (which we missed — d'oh!) is called "Sanning Eller Konsekvens." We'll review both here today!

Up first is the latest "Krossat Glas" (which means Shattered Glass). This is a great song with a wonderful melody with a very catchy chorus. We really like it. "Krossat Glas" was written by Allysandra, Beatrice Jaksch, and Gabriel Pettersson. It was produced by Beatrice Jaksch and Gabriel Pettersson. Watch the music video here ...

Next up is "Sanning Eller Konsekvens" (which translates to Truth Or Dare). This is a bit down tempo. It is quite nice. "Sanning Eller Konsekvens" was written by Allysandra and William Ek. It was produced by William Ek.  Have a listen here.

Both songs are available on digital outlets worldwide. Please support her by purchasing the music. We've added them to our 2020 Poptastic Confessions Playlist on Spotify. Enjoy!~

Cheers then,

Sign by Roosevelt

Dear Poptastic Readers,

German artist Roosevelt is back with a new song called "Sign" and it has that classic sound that he has perfected, only this time it feels slightly more synth and less guitar.

"Sign" is a mid-tempo heartache song. "Come back. Give me sign of you love." Roosevelt delivers an emotional vocal delivery. We quite like this one. Check out the music video ...

"Sign" was written and produced by Roosevelt (aka Marius Lauber). It is available on digital outlets everywhere. Buy your copy today. We've added it to our 2020 Poptastic Confessions Playlist on Spotify. Enjoy!~

American Cars by Annie

Dear Poptastic Readers,

Norwegian artist Annie is back with a brand new song called "American Cars" and it is the first single from her forthcoming album called Dark Hearts due in October.

It will be her first album in 11 years. However, we have featured her EPs and singles since 2013 right here in Poptastic Confessions. More on that below.

"American Cars" is an epic mid-tempo synthpop affair. Annie's vocals are cool and collected and it even features a talking middle part. It is one of those songs that seems like it could be right out of a movie. Perfect for driving at night. Have a listen ...

"American Cars" was written by Annie and Stefan Storm. It is available on digital outlets everywhere. Buy your copy today! We've added it to our 2020 Poptastic Confessions Playlist on Spotify. Enjoy!~

In 2013, we featured Annie's A&R EP and her single "Back Together" came in at #16 in our Top Songs of 2013.

In 2014, we highlighted Annie's protest single "Russian Kiss." It was #40 in our list of Top Songs of 2014.

In 2015, Annie released her Endless Vacation EP. Her single "Cara Mia" completely mesmerized us and it ended up being #1 in our Top Songs of 2015!

The last we heard from Annie was in 2016 with her collaboration with Tuff City Kids with their song "Labyrinth." It came in at #10  in our Top Songs of 2016.

Our 9th Anniversary!

Dear Poptastic Readers,

Today is our 9th anniversary of the music blog! HOORAY! It sure has been an interesting 9 years. We are so thankful to all the readers who clicked on our links, liked or shared our posts on social media. What started as a way to just highlight songs that we liked, the blog quickly morphed into a place where readers could find out about glorious independent music from all around the world. If you are new to the blog, we encourage you to explore the past 8 years using the Blog Archive Directory on the right. Welcome to Poptastic Confessions!

Our Mission
We highlight all types of music that might not be heard by the masses. We feature a lot of indie artists, as well as artists from various countries, or artists that might have been more popular in the 80s, 90s, and/or 00s. We like a lot of different types of music, too. Our goal is share with you to these songs and encourage you to legally purchase the music. That way, the artists (many of them self-financed) can make a profit so that they can continue making music.

Our History
When we started 9 years ago in 2011, the blog was called Davearama’s Guide to Poptastic Music. Davearama was the sole blogger and he didn’t really like the name or the focus on him. In 2012, he changed the name to be Poptastic Confessions. “Sometimes, admitting that you like pop music can be somewhat of a confession,” Davearama said. In 2016, he opened the blog to more contributors to expand the music selection.

Our Interviews
We used to do more interviews, and we took a long break from doing them. However, last year we added 2 new interviews. Please see the following interviews that we have done ...

Annikafiore formerly of Alcazar

Ani Saunders (AKA Ani Glass) formerly of The Pipettes

Gwenno formerly of The Pipettes

*Interviews that Davearama did before the blog.

Our Year-end Countdown
At the end of every year, we do a countdown of our top 100 songs of the year. We compile the songs at the end of November, and we spend most of December counting down the songs until we get to our #1 song of the year on New Year’s Eve. A lot of work goes in to it. As a result, we have the most visitors during the month of December. See Poptastic Confessions Top Songs by year ...

Spotify
We have Spotify playlists for all the years we’ve been around. Sometimes, songs aren’t on Spotify, so not every song is there. Click on the years to listen to the playlists: 2020201920182017201620152014201320122011, and 2010.

Podcasts
Davearama has represented Poptastic Confessions on a few radio interviews with John and Costa on the Neon Nights show on Joy 94.9, Australia's LGBTQ radio station. All of the shows were about Bananarama, but we are hoping to be guests on more shows in the future. You can hear the podcasts on their website

Our Inspirations
Many music artists inspire us. Bananarama made their way in a male-dominated music industry and always followed their gut. Jody Watley followed her own path and stayed true to herself. Annikafiore showed us how to be a indie disco diva on your own terms. Gwenno and Ani may have captured our hearts in The Pipettes, but they opened our minds and ears to music sung in Welsh and Cornish. John from Parralox inspired us to follow our dreams, to make them happen. A very special thank you to Annikafiore and Arturo, who encouraged Davearama when he told them he wanted to start a music blog. Check out Davearama's very first post about Preaching To The Choir by Annikafiore.

Our Legacy
We hope that our legacy is that we’ve been able to share new music with you that becomes the soundtrack to your life. We’ve made friends through Poptastic Confessions, whether it be with the artists, or fans. Here's a fun fact: the deep-house duo Glass Slipper formed because of Poptastic Confessions. We are very proud of that fact!

Thank You
A big thank you for visiting Poptastic Confessions! If you have liked/loved our posts, we love you. If you have shared our posts, we love you even more.

Cheers then,
—The Poptastic Confesssions Collective

P.S. We get most of our visitors from links on social media. We have Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter. Please make sure that you follow us on all 3 platforms! We could definitely use more followers on Instagram and Twitter. Hint, hint!

My Freedom by Magnus Carlsson

Dear Poptastic Readers,

June is LGBTQ Pride month! WOO! We just got some news to celebrate in the US when the Supreme Court ruled that the Civil Rights Act covers LGBTQ+ people from workplace discrimination! So let's celebrate with a new pride anthem from Sweden's Magnus Carlsson called "My Freedom."

"My Freedom" is the Official Stockholm Pride 2020 Anthem. It is a great pop song with wonderful melody. The lyrics are very self affirming, too. The chorus is a soaring affair. Magnus is a great singer, and we love his key change near the end. Have a listen ...

"My Freedom" was written by Anders Adelgren, Dan Attlerud, Linus Wileryd, and Tobias Jonsson. It was produced by Martin Eriksson Sandmark. It has even been remixed by legendary mixer/producer SoundFactory with the Paradise Anthem Mix, Stardust Dub, and for all of your radio-edit lovers there is even a SoundFactory ShortCut. Hear that here ...

"My Freedom" is available on digital outlets everywhere. Remixes, too! Buy your copies today! We've added it to our 2020 Poptastic Confessions Playlist on Spotify. Enjoy!~

We even just updated our 2019 PRIDE playlist on Spotify. We've added some fab songs from 2020 and we start it off with the SoundFactory ShortCut. Check that out here ...

Blame It On Me by Melanie C

Dear Poptastic Readers,

A couple of weeks ago, Melanie C released another glorious single called "Blame It On Me." This is the third in a row of her singles that we absolutely love. Last year, we adored "High Heels" featuring Sink The Pink—it was #13 in our Top 100 Songs of 2019. This year's "Who I Am" has been on constant rotation in our playlist!

"Blame It On Me" is an instantly catchy song with a great melody. Melanie gives a very strong, great vocal performance. The beat kicks in at the chorus, and it will have you grooving in no time. The music video has a video game theme and it is super cute, too. Have a look ..

"Blame It On Me" was written by Melanie C, Niamh Murphy, Samuel Brennan, and Tom Hollings. It was produced by Billen Ted. Bill and Ted? LOL! We've added it to our 2020 Poptastic Confessions Playlist on Spotify. You'll also hear her previous single "Who I Am" there. Enjoy!~

Cheers then,
