Clash Of The Titans by Army Of Lovers

Dear Poptastic Readers,

Army Of Lovers have released their final individual track from their forthcoming new album called Sexodus. The new song is called "Clash Of The Titans." It is a rework of their 1993 song "Carry My Urn To Ukraine", which was on their album The Gods Of Heaven And Earth.

Just like their previous single "Israelism 2023", this remake has some interesting new elements and it is not bad, but we prefer the original version. Most notably, the tempo on the new version has been slowed down. We predicted that Jean-Pierre would have taken over Michaela's original vocals, but we were pleasantly surprised to see that Dominika takes on all of the lead vocals (except for the choir in the chorus). You can hear Jean-Pierre"s vocals with Dominika though. Many of the lyrics from the original have also been removed and shortened. We've added the official audio to our 2023 Poptastic Confessions Playlist on YouTube.

Are you curious about the original version? Check out a live performance of "Carry My Urn To Ukraine" from back in the day when Michaela was in the group ...

"Clash Of The Titans" was written by Alexander Bard, Jean-Pierre Barda, Michaela de la Cour, and Anders Wollbeck, who also produced the new version. It is available on digital outlets everywhere. Buy your copy today! We've added it to our 2023 Poptastic Confessions Playlist on Spotify. You can also hear their other songs there: "Love Is Blue" featuring Olya Polyakova"Sexodus""Romanism""Bring Your Love", "What's That Look" featuring Tamer Wilde, and "Israelism 2023."

Cheers then,

Serotonin by TIN

Dear Poptastic Readers,

Queer artist TIN is back with a new song called "Serotonin." You might remember that we have featured his previous singles: "Sex, Cologne & Cigarettes", "Stung", and "Firm."

"Serotonin" is a pulsating electro pop song that is aimed at the club where you would be dancing all night long. There are some tempo changes, but the slow parts don't last long. The music video features TIN and Lostchild in what looks like a Last Supper event that is all in pink. We've added the music video to our 2023 Poptastic Confessions Playlist on YouTube.

"Serotonin" was written by TIN. It was produced by Lostchild. It is available on digital outlets everywhere. Buy your copy today. We've add it to our 2023 Poptastic Confessions Playlist on Spotify

Perfect World by Lastlings

Dear Poptastic Readers,

Sibling duo Lastlings have released another single from their new album and it is the title track called "Perfect World." This is the 6th single from their sophomore album. It follows the tracks: "Get What You Want" (#40 in our Top 101 Songs of 2022), "Holding Me Like Water", "Noise", "Out My Head", and "Gravity."

"Perfect World" is a somber pop song about missing someone from a past relationship. It is also about healing and moving on. The music is starts off with a haunting piano before the beat kicks in. It definitely has a tears-on-the-dancefloor feel to it. The music video only features singer Amy, which is fair as the video for "Gravity" only featured Josh. We've added the music video to our 2023 Poptastic Confessions Playlist on YouTube ...

"Perfect World" was written and produced by Amy Dowdle and Josh Dowdle (Lastlings). It is available on digital outlets everywhere. Buy your copy today. We've add it to our 2023 Poptastic Confessions Playlist on Spotify. You'll also hear their previous singles this year there, too.

Cheers then,
—Davearama

Israelism 2023 by Army Of Lovers

Dear Poptastic Readers,

Army Of Lovers have just released a new version of their controversial 1993 hit "Israelism." Why was it so controversial? Well, it celebrated Jewish culture while also being a bit tongue in cheek with taboo subjects like sex and circumcision. The song was hit around Europe, even landing at #3 in the Israel Airplay Chart. The brand new version is called "Israelism 2023."

So what's the new version like? Well, it isn't as good as the original 1993 version. However, it is isn't bad. It's a bit stripped back from the original giving it a more modern feel to it. We think if you aren't familiar with the original, you might like this version a lot, and it might make you want to check out the original version. We've added the official audio of "Israelism 2023" to our 2023 Poptastic Confessions Playlist on YouTube ....

Here's what Army Of Lovers member Jean-Pierre had to say about the both the original and the new version on social media ...

The original single cover from 1993

Isrealism-23.

30 years ago we made the song 'Israelism,' a celebration of my rich culture. It was initiated by my brother-in-arms Alexander inspired by myself and my Dominika, my beloved sister-in-arms.

Loved performing this song - a celebration of love and peace. The word shalom means both 'greetings' and 'peace,' just like the Arabic 'salaam' - a bonus for me since I come from an Arabic-speaking Jewish family. Performing this song always gave me a goosebumps out of excitement and pride.

But why the name Israelism? This is where Judaism was born, the center of our culture, both for secular and Orthodox Jews, probably the reason why Israel is a semi-secular state today, as both groups of Jews have equal pride and heritage in that land.

I am secular, and for me the bond is just as loving and strong as for any Orthodox Jew.

Just as any countryman to its country, I don’t always agree with the different governments in power, but that doesn’t keeps us from living our country. This is the reason why the flag on the original cover is vertical: the blue stripes on the flag refer to the tallit, a Jewish prayer mantel making it a symbol for both country and culture.

To honour the anniversary of the song we were inspired to give a new and loving dancy groove to it.

I hope you will enjoy it as much as we did making it. And for those who are not familiar with the first version of this song, our new release will make you discover the original from 1993 (omg the last century!)

I swish you, wherever you are, SHABBAT SHALOM

With love to all our beautiful fans.

Jean-Pierre

PS I love my new middle name porr Moses, thank you siss!!

Moving To The Beat by SoundFactory

Dear Poptastic Readers,

Legendary Swedish producer SoundFactory is out with a new dance song that will get you moving to the beat and the song is called "Moving To The Beat." See what we did there? You might remember that SoundFactory's remix of Annikafiore's "Don't Wanna C U 2nite" was #1 in our Top Songs of 2011. We have featured many other songs with them over the years, too.

"Moving To The Beat" is aimed right at the dance floor. This is more hardcore club than it is pop. It has a male vocal who invites us to be in the middle of the hot, sweaty dance club. We are loving it. We've added the official audio to our 2023 Poptastic Confessions Playlist on YouTube ...

"Moving To The Beat was written and produced by Emil Hellman. It is available on digital outlets everywhere. Buy your copy today! We've added it to our 2023 Poptastic Confessions Playlist on Spotify

Ocean Of Love by Petra Marklund

Dear Poptastic Readers,

Once upon a time in the mid 2000s, there was a Swedish dance pop act named September. Her real name was Petra Marklund, and she released 4 albums with lots of dance hits from 2003 to 2011 like "Satellites", "Cry For You", "Can't Get Over", "Resuscitate Me" (#16 in our Top Songs of 2010), "Me And My Microphone" (#5 Song in our Top Songs of 2011), and "Party In My Head" (#20 in our Top Songs of 2011) In 2012, she started making non-dance music sung in Swedish and using her real name.

This summer, Petra released a dance song in English, but released it under her name. We just found out about it — better late to the party than never! The new song is called "Ocean Of Love" and it a is a fun dance pop song. It has a fun talking part to it. The melody is really good and it has a sing-a-long chorus. We've added the official audio to our 2023 Poptastic Confessions Playlist on YouTube ...

Petra also performed the song in Sweden on a TV show called AllsÃ¥ng pÃ¥ Skansen. See her performance here ...

"Ocean Of Love" was written by Björn Johnsson, Maria Smith, Niklas Bergwall, Peter Kwint, and Petra Marklund. It was produced by Petra Marklund, Björn Johnsson, and Niklas Bergwall. It is available on digital outlets everywhere. Limoncello by Reyna

Dear Poptastic Readers,

It's been awhile since we heard from sister duo Reyna. They have a new song out called "Limoncello" and it is from an EP with the same name.

"Limoncello" is an easy going pop song. The music is very mellow and relaxed. The melody of the lyrics are a bit more exciting. Naturally the music video was set at a beach, which is the perfect feel for the song. We've added to our 2023 Poptastic Confessions Playlist on YouTube.

"Limocello" was written and produced by Victoriah Banuelos, Gabriela Banuelos, and Jordan Witizgruter.  It is available on digital outlets everywhere. Buy your copy today! It even comes with a great remix package! We've added it to our 2023 Poptastic Confessions Playlist on Spotify

What's That Look by Army Of Lovers featuring Tamer Wilde

Dear Poptastic Readers,

Swedish legends Army Of Lovers released their 5th song in 5 weeks from their forthcoming new album called SexodusThe new song is called "What's That Look" featuring Tamer Wilde. This follows the previous 4 songs: "Love Is Blue" featuring Olya Polyakova"Sexodus", "Romanism" and "Bring Your Love."

"What's That Look" features the vocals of Tamer Wilde, a name we instantly recognized from the short-lived pop group The Face. They had one fantastic song with Dream Beats and it was called "Love Stuck." (It was #9 in our Top Songs of 2012.)

The main producer of Dream Beats was Anders Hansson, who wrote and produced this track. We think this fun song is left over from the recording sessions with The Face, as we can hear Christie and Francine on backing vocals. Army Of Lovers have recorded some new bits and made it their own. The result is quite nice and the song doesn't sound dated, it actually sounds quite nice and we really like it. We've added the official audio to our 2023 Poptastic Confessions Playlist on YouTube ...

Fun fact: The other 2 members of The Face (Francine and Christie) have all had solo songs featured in Poptastic Confessions over the years ....

"Crying On The Dancefloor" by Parralox featuring Francine (#2 in 2014)

"Wasn't My Fault" by Christie & The Dream Beats (#6 in 2016)

"Learning To Dance" by Christie & The Dream Beats (#62 in 2016)

"My Boyfriend's Clothes" by Christie & The Dream Beats (#14 of 2017)

"Beautiful Heights" by Francine Belle (#1 in 2018)

"Diamond" by Francine Belle (#21 of 2019)

"Shame The Devil" by Francine Belle (#7 in 2022)

Perhaps now we will hear more from Tamer Wilde.

"What's That Look" was written by Alexander Bard, Jean-Pierre Barda, and Anders Hansson, who also produced the track. It is available on digital outlets everywhere. Buy your copy today! We've added it to our 2023 Poptastic Confessions Playlist on Spotify

Hold On To Now by Kylie Minogue

Dear Poptastic Readers,

Kylie Minogue has released her 4th single from her fabulous new album Tension. The single is the brilliant, and fan-favourite "Hold On To Now." This follows her previous singles “10 Out Of 10”“Padam Padam”, and “Tension.”

“Hold On To Now” has a wonderful melody and the music is uplifting and melancholy all at the same time. It is definitely one of the highlights from the new album, even being track #2 on the album. It is possible that Kylie has filmed a proper music video for the song, but for now there is only an official lyric video that was released when the album was released. You can see that video on our 2023 Poptastic Confessions Playlist on YouTube ...

“Hold On To Now” was written by Kylie, Biff Stannard, Duck Blackwell, and Jon Green, who all but Kylie produced the track. It is available on digital outlets everywhere. Buy your copy today! We've added it to our 2023 Poptastic Confessions Playlist on Spotify.
