Party People Video

Dear Poptastic Party People Readers,

Back in 2009, Annikafiore was part of a dance-pop duo called Avatar versus Eve (A.v.E.). Their first single was the wonderful song "Party People." Sadly, the song never had a video. There was only a short clip of a live performance on YouTube.

Well, five years after the release of the song … a video has been made! But not by Annikafiore. Instead, I thought how fun it would be to make a video for the song. So I enlisted our friend Matt and my husband Arturo to help me make the video. Matt and I would go out on the town of San Francisco in drag characters Madison and Sausi, and Arturo would film us.

We didn't really have a big plan. We just sort of made it up as we went along. And it didn't help any that it was a very hot day in August! And we laughed all night long!

Sausi O'Sullivan and Madison

Since I finished editing the video, we have laughed and laughed even more over it. Especially since my big wig (two wigs actually) kept sliding off! I sent to Annikafiore yesterday and she loved it and gave her blessing for it to be on YouTube.

So, without anymore delay, here is the video for "Party People."

My goal was for the video to be a prequel to "I've Still Got The Highest Heels In The Room." I'm not sure we succeeded, but it sure was a lot of fun!

"Party People" is available on cdbaby.com and it has a wonderful remix package, including a mix from SoundFactory! Don't delay, go buy it today!

Cheers then,
—Davearama

P.S. To find out more about Annikafiore and A.v.E., read the interview I did with Annikafiore here, and read about the history of Alcazar and Annikafiore here.

Fratolish Hiang Perpeshki and Calon Peiriant by Gwenno

Dear Poptastic Readers,

Gwenno, The Queen of Welsh Dream Pop, is back with a double A-side single! Woo-hoo!

Gwenno

The songs are called "Fratolish Hiang Perpeshki" and "Calon Peiriant." And great news! There is a video for the latter song!

Before I try to describe the songs, I thought I'd head over to Peski (Gwenno's record label) and see what they had to say

Communicating through the medium of pop, Gwenno blends big themes and a real sense of revolution to produce a powerful, politically-charged record. 'Fratolish Hiang Perpeshki' is a reference to Owain Owain’s 1976 novel ('Y Dydd Olaf') about a dystopian future where the robots have taken over and are busily turning the human race into clones through the use of medication. 'Calon Peiriant' is Gwenno’s response to the political upheaval she sees playing out all over Europe – from the borders of Scotland to the Basque country and beyond – as well as a war cry to all those who are dissatisfied with media propaganda and cultural manipulation.

Last week, Gwenno released a video for the dreamy track "Calon Peiriant."  Have a look and listen …

Wasn't that lovely? Yes, it was!

I'm a bit more excited for the track "Fratolish Hiang Perpeshki." For this track the beat picks up and as Gwenno said on her Facebook page, it's "the song to dance to when the world comes to an end!" The Italo disco song is dancefloor dreamy! Have a listen …

I hope there will be a video for this song!

Both tracks are available for download (and CD!) on October 6. Please check out Peski and Gwenno's Facebook page for the latest info!

And Gwenno's first full-length solo album, Y Dydd Olaf, will be out October 27! So mark your calendars!

Cheers then,
—Davearama

Games For Girls by Lindstrøm featuring Say Lou Lou

Dear Poptastic Readers,

The Swedish dream-pop duo Say Lou Lou are back with a tune that isn't dream pop! Instead, it's a rather catchy dance-pop number that will have you grooving in no time! The song is called "Games For Girls."

The song is a collaboration with Lindstrøm, who is a Norwegian producer. So the sound is a bit of departure for the twin sisters. And while I loved their single "Everything We Touch" earlier this year, I also really like the dance vibe this has.

Check out the cute video … Maybe it is the police, but it sort of reminds me of the video for "Cruel Summer" by Bananarama.

I'm not sure when the song will be available for download. Stay tuned.

Cheers then,
—Davearama

The Deer and the Wolf + Only Child by Sophie Ellis-Bextor

Dear Poptastic Readers,

I know it's been quiet lately, and I'm sorry for that. Life gets busy and sometimes I just run out of time and energy. So this post is a bit of catch-up post. I have more new music to share with you, so hopefully I can get those written this week.

Well, Sophie Ellis-Bextor is busy! Last month(!), she released the latest single from her indie-pop album Wanderlust. The single is called "The Deer and the Wolf." And here is the video for that …

Sophie has also recorded a dance track (Yay!) with DedRecoking and the song is called "Only Child." Not sure if there will be a video or not, but you can hear it …

"The Deer and the Wolf" is available on most digital outlets. "Only Child" is currently only available on Beatport. And you live in the UK, you can catch Sophie on tour.

Cheers then,

Elevation by Erasure

Dear Poptastic Readers,

Back in the 80s and 90s, I was crazy about the pop duo Erasure. After seeing them open for Duran Duran in 1987, I continually bought all of the albums until around 2006 when I lost interest. I have sporadically kept up with them since then, but I haven't liked much. Well, things have changed as they have a new song out called "Elevation" and I love it!

"Elevation" is the first single from their new album called The Violet Flame, which will be released later this month. The album has been produced by Richard X who, judging by the first single, has the duo back on track.

While Andy and Vince of Erasure don't appear in the video, you can check it out here and fall in love with the wonderful new song.

I enjoy this song so much, there is a good chance it will make the year-end Top 20 list!

"Elevation" is available on iTunes. The Violet Flame is released on September 23. Don't delay, buy it today and add it to your 2014 poptastic playlist!

Cheers then,
—Davearama
