I Still Have Faith In You and Don't Shut Me Down by ABBA

Dear Poptastic Readers,

Swedish super group ABBA had a big announcement today: Their first new music in 40 years! They have a new album called Voyage coming in November. The first 2 of 10 songs were released today. They are "I Still Have Faith In You" and "Don't Shut Me Down."

We will start with "I Still Have Faith In You." It is a gorgeous ballad with Annie-Frid (aka Frida) on lead vocals. The music video features lots of footage from the 70s and 80s until it gets to the new computer animated ABBA as their younger selves singing the latest song. Have a look ...

Wasn't that lovely? Yes, it was. The second song is "Don't Shut Me Down" is a bit more upbeat and Agnetha takes the lead on this one. It's a charming song. There is a lyric music video for it here ...

Both songs were written and produced by the male members of ABBA: Björn and Benny. Both songs are available on digital outlets everywhere. Buy your copies today. We've added both to our 2021 Poptastic Confessions Playlist on Spotify. Enjoy!

Cheers then,

Anniversary by Duran Duran

Dear Poptastic Readers,

Happy September! This year has gone fast! Duran Duran released their third single this week from their forthcoming album Future Past. The new song is called "Anniversary." The previous songs were "Invisible" and "More Joy!"

"Anniversary" is a fun song very in line with a classic Duran Duran sound. Apparently it was written with their 40th anniversary in mind. It has a fun groove, Simon hitting some high notes in the chorus, and some lovely backing vocals. Both "Anniversary" and "More Joy!" mention a train in the lyrics.

OCTOBER 19 UPDATE: Check out the new music video with lots of celebrity lookalikes ...

"Anniversary" was written by Erol Alkan, Graham Coxon, Simon Le Bon, Nick Rhodes, John Taylor, and Roger Taylor.
