Our 12th Anniversary!

Dear Poptastic Readers,

Yesterday was our 12th anniversary! We remembered late in the afternoon yesterday, and didn't have time to publish the post. If you are new to this blog, we highlight current music that gets overlooked by the masses, whether it be independent artists, veteran artists, or artists from other countries. We prove time and time again that there is much more to pop music than what mainstream radio plays.

Two years ago, on our 10th anniversary, several artists sent us videos wishing us a happy 10th anniversary. You can watch all of the videos on this playlist below. They are in this order: Glass Slipper, Annikafiore, Christie, Carda, Normski, Clara Mae, Isle Of You, Chris Tall, Francine Belle, Ani Glass, Alice D, Henrikes, Gabby of REYNA, Jody Watley, John von Ahlen of Parralox, and Davearama. Watch the videos here ...

We are known for our year-end countdowns of our favourite songs of the year. It pretty much takes up most of December as we highlight one song each day in the Top 21. It takes a lot of work narrowing down the list and putting it in order. We basically have to start in early to mid-November each year to have it ready in time. Check out our top songs by year ...

You can listen to our 2023 Poptastic Confessions Playlist on SpotifyPlease remember to use Spotify as a way to hear new music. The best way to support the artists are to buy their music. Please do so!

Again, we thank all of the readers of the past 12 years. Here's to many more!

Cheers then,

Gravity by Lastlings + previous singles, too

Dear Poptastic Readers,

Australian sibling duo Lastings are back with a new song called "Gravity." The big oops on our part is that this is their 4th single this year! D'oh! The last single we featured from them was "Get What You Want" from October of last year.

Lastlings are siblings Josh and Amy Dowdle.

Their latest single "Gravity" is an epic electro pop song. It is about wanting to get away from reality. We can all relate to that. The music video is quite the cinematic affair and it features the handsome Joshua playing two roles running around Japan. We've added it and the following music videos to our 2023 Poptastic Confessions Playlist on YouTube.

"Holding Me Like Water" was released back in mid-January. It is starts off a bit slow, but at the first chorus, it turns into a power song with a dark edge.

"Noise" was released in mid-March. It is a darker electro track. The music video follows the story of a young woman having a bad day, and thing keep getting worse. Check it out ...

"Out Of My Head"  was released in May and it is a bit of a softer track. It is like a trance ballad. The lyrics are about trying to get over someone. It is quite beautiful.

All songs written by Amy and Josh Dowdle. "Gravity" was produced by Josh Dowdle and Rinzen. "Out Of My Head" was produced by Josh Dowdle, Emmet Fenn, and Simon Lam. "Noise" was produced by Josh Dowdle and Simon Lam. "Holding Me Like Water" was produced by Lastlings and Alex Metric. All songs are available on digital outlets everywhere. Buy your copies today. We've add them to our 2023 Poptastic Confessions Playlist on Spotify

Cheers then,

"Jump" is fun pop song. It starts off a bit slow, but with some beats. But then the chorus kicks in and suddenly you feel like you're listening to a video game as the beats really pick up. The music video has the Polly, Holly, and Molly having some sweets, and it ends in a food fight and dancing on the table. We've added it to our 2023 Poptastic Confessions Playlist on YouTube ...

Sweet Summer Feels by Flora Summers

Dear Poptastic Readers,

Swedish independent artist Flora Summers is back with her second single this year. The new song is called "Sweet Summer Feels." You might remember we featured her debut song "Obsessions" last month.

"Sweet Summer Feels" picks up where "Obsessions" left off. While "Obsessions" had a retro feel to it, "Sweet Summer Feels" has a more modern soft rock pop song. The melody is like a cool breeze on a hot day. This is perfect for lounging around the pool this summer. Have a listen ...

"Sweet Summer Feels" was written by Ida Johansson and Nadja Olofsson. It was produced by Ida Johansson. It is available on digital outlets everywhere. Buy your copy today! We've added it to our 2023 Poptastic Confessions Playlist on Spotify. You'll also hear "Obsessions" there.

Walk Away by Una Healy

Dear Poptastic Readers,

Irish artist, and former singers of The Saturdays, Una Healy has a new single out today called "Walk Away." You might remember that last year we featured her song "This Is Your Life."

"Walk Away" is very much country pop song. Since The Saturdays went their separate ways, Una has gone for the acoustic guitar sound, but this might be the most country she has ever sounded. She looks amazing in the music video. We've added it to our 2023 Poptastic Confessions Playlist on YouTube.

"Walk Away" was written by Una Healy, Megan O'Neill, and Alex Maile, who also produced the track. It is available on digital outlets everywhere. Buy your copy today! We've added it to our 2023 Poptastic Confessions Playlist on Spotify

We Could Be The One by Dannii Minogue

Dear Poptastic Readers,

HAPPY PRIDE MONTH! The legendary Dannii Minogue is back with new music! HOORAY! We are beyond excited and the new song is called "We Could Be The One" and it is really, really good! It is the best song she has recorded in a very long time. Of course, she hasn't recorded a lot of music in a very long time. Hopefully, this will reignite her pop music career. Are you not familiar with her? Yes, she is Kylie's younger sister. Our favourite Dannii songs are "Put The Needle On It", "I Begin To Wonder", "Don't Wanna Lose This Feeling", "You Won't Forget About Me", and "Touch Me Like That."

Altered cover by Karl Siniak

"We Could Be The One" is an epic dance pop song that is just magical. As soon as you listen to it, you want to hear it again. It is a new anthem for the LGBTQ+ community. We say that because it is also the theme song to the UK's first ever gay dating show called I Kissed A Boy, in which Dannii is the host. Dannii is a fierce ally to the LGBTQ+ community and she was the first major act to perform at London's famous G-A-Y nightclub. In 1998, she also sang the first official theme song for Sydney's LGBTQ+ Mardi Gras with "Everlasting Night." We've added the video visualizer for "We Could Be The One" to our 2023 Poptastic Confessions Playlist on YouTube ...

"We Could Be The One" was written by Hayley Sanderson and Ian Masterson. It was produced by Adrian Newman and Ian Masterson. It is available on digital outlets everywhere. Buy your copy today! We've added it to our 2023 Poptastic Confessions Playlist on Spotify
