Sneak preview: Last Year At Marienbad by Parralox

Dear Poptastic Readers,

Last week, we highlighted the fantastic Parralox remix of "How About No" by Real Experts. This week, Parralox released a sneak preview of a new song called "Last Year At Marienbad."

Now, before we get to the song, you might like to know that title and theme of the song are about the 1961 French-Italian film Last Year At Marienbad. While we haven't seen the movie, a quick trip over to Wikipedia gave us the plot, which we edited down for your convenience ...

At a château, a man approaches a woman. He claims they met the year before at Marienbad. The woman insists they have never met. There is a second man, who may be the woman's husband.

The sneak preview of the song was featured in The Notorious New Wave Show hosted by Gina Achord. While the whole show is lovely, you can hear the new Parralox song by skipping to 14:35. However, don't go too far as it doesn't let you rewind. Oh, and follow along with the lyrics here.

How incredible was that? The female vocalist on the track is Louise Love, who also sang on a couple of Parralox tracks on Holiday '15. And in January of this year, we featured Louise's solo song "Get Back." In February of this year, Naomi Arnold wrote a lovely review of a live Louise Love performance

And of course, the male vocalist on "Last Year At Marienbad" is Parralox mastermind John von Ahlen. Read our interview with him by clicking on his name.

When will "Last Year At Marienbad" be available for purchase? According to the Parralox website, it will be released in November on their forthcoming album titled Subculture.

As always, like Parralox's Facebook page for the latest updates. And while you are there, like the Poptastic Confessions Facebook page, too!

Cheers then,

The handsome men of Galavant!

"Parachute" starts off sounding like a piano mid-tempo ballad, but then turns into a delightful happy melody. And Clara's vocals really are delightful. Just have a listen ...

Wasn't that fun? Yes, it was. Here is lovely photo of Clara ...

How About No (Parralox Remix) by Real Experts

Dear Poptastic Readers,

Parralox has remixed the latest single from UK synthpop group Real Experts and the result is absolutely POPtastic! The song is called about "How About No."

I hadn't heard the original version of the song before I saw it pop up on my Facebook newsfeed when Parralox posted it. As soon as I heard the song, I immediately wanted to start dancing! The mix is so good. At first, I even wondered if John from Parralox was on lead vocals. But no, it isn't him. The singer delivers some FABULOUS vocals. Check out the fabulous remix here ...

Isn't that wonderful? I just absolutely LOVE it! Makes me long for new Parralox music!

Currently, the original version of "How About No" is available on digital outlets everywhere. Parralox's remix will be released on a forthcoming remix album of Real Experts.

In the meantime, remember to like the Facebook pages of both Parralox and Real Experts.

Love You To Death by Tegan and Sara

Dear Poptastic Readers,

Sometimes we can be a little late to the party, but better late than never! Canadian duo Tegan and Sara released their latest album earlier this year called Love You To Death. And it is fantastic!

The twin sisters have been making music for many years, but came to international attention with "Everything Is Awesome" with The Lonely Island from The Lego Movie. While that was a fun song, I'm happy to report the album sounds nothing like that. And if you love pop music, you should really check it out.

"Boyfriend" was the first single. And it is a great pop song filled with heartache. Check out the video.

Wasn't that fabulous? But it gets better! My favorite track on the album is called "U-turn" and check out the fun video ...

If that wasn't enough, they have made videos for many of the songs. Check out the videos for "BWU" (which stands for Be With You), the dog-friendly "100x", a lip-synch contest video for "Faint Of Heart", and an animation video for "Hang On To The Night." AMAZING!

And it looks like the next single is the upbeat "Stop Desire." Stay tuned for that!

Love You To Death is available on digital outlets everywhere. Don't delay! Go buy your copy today!

Cheers then,
—Davearama

P.S. You might remember that when we did our countdown of our favorite Top 100 Girl Groups earlier this year, Tegan and Sara came in at #83. I think if we have this countdown in a few years, you will definitely see a big jump for them. All because of this amazing album.

Back To You by Mollie King

Dear Poptastic Readers,

All hail the King! Mollie King that is! Who is she? Why she was easily the most adorable member of UK girl group The Saturdays. For the record, the other Saturdays all have their charms, too. Well, Mollie has released her debut single today, and it is amazing song called "Back To You."

The song is a bit like a power ballad, but not a ballad at all. Instead, a mid-tempo power dub-stepish pop song that will have you singing the chorus after hearing it only once. And her record label have gone all out for an amazing video!

Hooray! No matter what the fickle UK charts may show, Mollie has successfully launched her solo career. And good for her!

"Back To You" is available on digital outlets everywhere. Buy your copy today!

In The Morning by Sannie

Dear Poptastic Readers,

Sannie is back with her second single this year. You might remember her single "How Long?" that was out this spring. Her latest single is called "In The Morning."

Now why is Sannie so familiar? She used to go by the name Whigfield, and she is probably best known for her 1994 mega-hit "Saturday Night." However, we fell in love with Whigfield's 2012 mini-album W. That featured the song "4ever" — which came in on our 2012 countdown at #4.

But now Sannie is using her real name to release music. And "In The Morning" is an epic mid-tempo dance track. The video is stunning and it wasn't quite what I was expecting, but it is beautifully filmed. Have a look!

Amazing, right? Yes, it was.

"In The Morning" is available on digital outlets everywhere. Go ahead and buy your copy today.

Cheers then!

Heartlines by Broods

Dear Poptastic Readers,

Sorry for the two-week gap, but I took a mini vacation. Anyhow, on my way to work yesterday, I saw an Instagram sponsored ad for Broods. I liked the way the looked and I checked them out. They have a new song called "Heartlines" that is quite good!

Broods are siblings Caleb and Georgia

I went to their Facebook page, and I had already "liked" their Facebook page. So they must have sparked my interest before! They are a sibling duo from New Zealand. While I can't recall why I initially liked them, they had the following singles: "Bridges", "Never Gonna Change", "Mother & Father", "L.A.F.", "Four Walls" and their single earlier this spring "Free."

Check out the fabulous video for their new single "Heartlines" ...

Wasn't that lovely? Yes!

"Heartlines"  and "Free" are both featured on the duo's sophomore album called Conscious and both are available on digital outlets everywhere.

Don't delay. Buy your copy today!

Cheers then,
—Davearama

Drugstore Lovin by Rebecca & Fiona

Dear Poptastic Readers,

Our favorite Swedish duo Rebecca & Fiona are back with a fantastic new song called "Drugstore Lovin." And lucky for you, it was released today! Just in time for the weekend!

"Durgstore Lovin" is their first single of 2016. Their last single "Sayonara" came out at the end of 2015. And in both songs, Rebecca & Fiona drop the F-bomb. But at least this time it is a bit more hidden. Having said that, I quite like the song. Check out the music video, it's fun ...

If that wasn't awesome enough, check out this video where the duo are giving an outside live performance ...

Wasn't that a fun summer song? Love the chorus! And I just love their platform shoes!

"Drugstore Lovin" is available on digital outlets everywhere. Don't delay! Buy it today!

Cheers then,
—Davearama
