Aldrig Aldrig by Andreas Lundstedt

Andreas Lundstedt, the lead singer of Alcazar, has a new solo song out. The song is in Swedish. I think the song is OK, not fantastic, but not bad either.

"Aldrig Aldrig" means "Never Never". I'm hoping there will be an English version soon. Having said that, I don't mind the Swedish song. I think it is nice. The strings remind me of Alcazar's song "Headlines."

Andreas has released solo singles before. There were a few before he was in Alcazar, but they were so-so: "Driver Dagg Faller Regn", "Hey Ya, Hey Ya", and "Jag Saknar Dig, Jag Saknar Dig." In 2006, there was "Love Gun", "Night Fever" and "Dollar Queen." And in 2007, there was "Move." However, none of those singles had an official video. See it here ...

And his Melodifestivalen performance is here ...

While I like the new song ... it makes me long for Alcazar's return.

Whitney Houston, 1963-2012

So sad to hear the news about Whitney Houston dying.

While I wasn't her biggest fan … she had an amazing voice and I liked some of her songs. I remember buying her debut album on cassette because I liked "How Will I Know" and "The Greatest Love Of All."  Throughout the years, I liked some other songs, as well.

My favourite song by Whitney came in 1999. It was the Thunderpuss remix of "It's Not Right, But It's OK" that filled the dancefloors in the clubs. And I loved it.

Rest in peace, Whitney …

Give Me All Your Luvin' by Madonna featuring Nicki Minaj and MIA

Hello! Yes, it's been awhile since my last update. Sorry. Life gets busy. A lot has happened in the time I've been away. First up, Madonna!

Yes, Madonna has a brand new song out called "Give Me All Your Luvin'". She didn't spell it "Gimme" as that would be ABBA-esque. However, why oh why couldn't she have spelled out "Loving" … OK, she doesn't pronounce the g, but "Lovin'" would have been better. Oh well. It's not that bad. I'm not sold on the single cover either. I kinda like it. I kinda don't. It reminds me of Dr. Suess's Star-bellied Sneetches.

There have been a lot of negative reviews about the song, and even when I first heard it, I wasn't impressed. However, after listening to it a few times, I liked it. And seeing the video really made me like it even more. In fact, I might like the video more than the song.

I'm not the biggest fan of either rapper. I kinda like Nicki Minaj, but not MIA, even though she is pretty and has nice hair in the video. However, I much prefer Nicki's rap to MIA's rap.

At the end of the day, this is a FUN pop song. And I get annoyed that people are making ageist comments about Madonna making "age appropriate" songs. I don't care about that. The song makes me tap my foot and smile. That's what a great pop song is all about.

And while we are talking about Madonna … the Super Bowl performance was incredible. Who cares if it was all lip-synched. It was an incredible performance! A pity about MIA flipping the bird. Otherwise, it was awesome!

Madonna's album MDNA is out March 26. Can't wait!
