Human Behaviour by Le Kid

Fantastic news! Swedish group Le Kid has just released a new single in Denmark called "Human Behaviour." And it is deeply FAB! You might remember that Le Kid had three songs on countdown of my favourite songs of 2011. The artwork for the sleeve is very Human League.

"Human Behaviour" tricks you a little bit as it starts off slow and you think it might be a ballad. However, it quickly changes tempo into fantastic, gorgeous pop song.

Perhaps on purpose or maybe by coincidence, the lyrics reference Madonna's "Hung Up" and Olivia Newton-John's "Let's Get Physical." The music is reminiscent of new wave, and Helena and Johanna's vocals are so magnificent.

The chorus is euphoric! The beat is relentless. This is song that deserves a global release, not just in Denmark. It also deserves a fantastic video and some amazing remixes.

Hotter Than Fire by Eric Saade featuring Dev

Another new song out is this year is "Hotter Than Fire" by Swedish singer Eric Saade featuring Dev. And thanks to the mutual shout out in the beginning of the song, I now know how to pronounce "Saade."

This is a fun song and the video is cute. Eric dances around an abandoned house and it looks like it is done in all one take, even doing some gravity-defying moves. Dev isn't there, but she appears on some really old TVs.

Yo-Yo by Nicola Roberts

Now that it is 2012, let's turn our attention to some new songs out in January. First up, is British artist Nicola Roberts (who is a member of the UK group Girls Aloud) with her third single called "Yo-Yo" from her debut solo album, "Cinderella Eyes."

You might remember Nicola from my favourite songs of 2011. Her first single "Beat Of My Drum" came in at #11. She did have second single out last year called "Lucky Day." I thought it was just OK.

Her new song "Yo-Yo" is a great pop song. It's emotional. It's pop. It's lovely. And best of all, Nicola looks FABulous in the video! Her first two videos had very questionable outfits. This time around, she looks fantastic!

Tidbits about my Top 20 of 2011

I meant to post this on New Year's Day, but life got busy. Anyhoo ... Here are some interesting (or not so interesting) tidbits about my Top 21 songs of 2011. Enjoy!~

Ten of the songs were from Sweden artists. The artists are ... Annikafiore, Dream Beats, Alcazar, Le Kid, September, Miss Inga, Dominka, La Camilla, Robyn and Eric Saade.

Seven of the songs were from UK artists like ... The Human League, Sugababes, The Saturdays, Nicola Roberts, The Pipettes, Melanie C.

Whigfield is from Denmark.

There were 2 artists from Australia: Sneaky Sound System and Kylie Minogue. However, I believe Kylie's permanent residence is in the UK.

The majority of artists were female. Eric Saade was the only solo male singer. However, Alcazar's song has Andreas sharing the vocals with Tess and Lina. And don't forget, Miss Inga is a drag queen. The Human League's song had Phil singing backup vocals. And Le Kid has men in the group.

#1 of 2011

#1 in my favourite songs of 2011 is "Don't Wanna C U 2nite" by Annikafiore. As you know, her song "Love 2 Live" came in at #6 this year. Last year, her debut solo single "Forbidden Love" came in at #10 on my countdown.

This amazing song was written and produced by Annikafiore and Antti Vuorenniemi. While the original version was a mid-tempo ballad, the single version was remixed by SoundFactory and it was turned into a dancefloor stomper!

This tears-on-the-dancefloor song is amazing, and so is Annikafiore. Not only did she write the song, she published it on her own label. And when the original video wasn't ready for the single's release, she quickly filmed a new video and edited it herself. To me, she is an inspiration. She's doing everything on her own terms, and when there is a problem, she fixes it.

The song was released this summer and has been a favourite of mine ever since. Congratulations to Annikafiore for hitting the #1 position on my Poptastic countdown!

#2 of 2011

#2 in my favourite songs of 2011 is "Feel 4 U" by Dream Beats featuring Alcazar. We really love Alcazar!

Who is/are Dream Beats? Well, Dream Beats is a Swedish production team made up of Felix and Märta of Le Kid as well as Anders Hansson. The three of them have worked with Alcazar on their last album. This is their first single as Dream Beats. This song is crazy busy with 70s references, and it even name-drops the title of Alcazar's last album Disco Defenders.

I must admit, I'm not crazy about the video. I could do without the woman tripping out. That part completely freaks me out. I'm not crazy about Tess and Lina's beehive hairdos either. They are OK, but it really doesn't show off their beauty.

#3 of 2011

#3 in my favourite songs of 2011 is "America" by Le Kid. I adore this song! LOVE, Love, love it! This is the third (if you count #21) and final song from Le Kid on this year's countdown. I love Le Kid, and I can't wait for more music from them.

This is by far my favourite song of theirs. I never grow tired of hearing it. The melody is gorgeous. It's melancholy, but it's not quite a ballad. It is beautiful, indeed.

The video is quite clever. With a title like "America", it would be easy to get a little patriotic, like the cover did. (By the way, where is the rest of Le Kid? Both "America" and "We Are The Drums" only featured the singers Helena and Johanna on the cover.) The band looks fabulous in the video.
