Incense & Peppermints by Missing Persons featuring Dale Bozzio

Dear Poptastic Readers,

The 80s new wave group Missing Persons is back. Well, sort of. Lead singer Dale Bozzio is back with the Missing Persons name, a new album called Dreaming, and the first single is a remake of "Incense & Peppermints." The song was originally recorded by the psychedelic rock group Strawberry Alarm Clock, and it was a #1 hit for them in 1967.

So what's the Missing Persons (featuring Dale Bozzio) version sound like? Well, it is a definitely a synth-pop affair! We think it is a fun interpretation of the song. It will have you singing along in no time. Have a listen ...

Now if you just asked yourself, who are Missing Persons? Well, they were a L.A.-based new wave band who had an impressive debut album called Spring Session M in 1982. Dale Bozzio was the lead singer and was known for her platinum blonde hair with bright pink patches and skimpy clothes. Let's just say that she looked like Lady Gaga before Lady Gaga looked like that. Dale was married to the drummer Terry Bozzio. The guitarist was Warren Cuccurullo, who joined Duran Duran in 1986 when their guitarist Andy Taylor quit. Warren was a member of Duran Duran until 2001, when the original lineup reformed.

The album Spring Session M did well on the charts, however, the singles didn't set the charts on fire. The music videos were in heavy rotation in the early days of MTV. Check out these ...

"Words" in 1982

"Destination Unknown" in 1982

Their sophomore album Rhyme & Reason was a moderate hit in 1984. We absolutely loved these singles ...

"Right Now" in 1984

"Surrender Your Heart" in 1984

In 1986, the band would release their final album before breaking up. It was called Color In Your Life. It didn't do as well as the previous albums. The lead single was ...

"I Can't Think About Dancing" in 1986

There you have it. Now the band had more singles and videos from those albums, we only highlighted our favorite ones. Missing Persons music is available on digital outlets everywhere. Happy exploring or remembering.

The new album Dreaming is mostly remakes, but there are some original tracks there, too. There are some interesting interpretations there. Check out the album by clicking on the title. We've added "Incense & Peppermints" to our 2020 Poptastic Confessions Playlist on Spotify. Enjoy!~

Cheers then,
—Davearama
