It's Christmas Time (For You And I) by Rhona Bennett

Dear Poptastic Readers,

Former En Vogue singer Rhona Bennett has a new holiday song out called "It's Christmas Time (For You And I)." If you aren't familiar with Rhona, she was in the group En Vogue for the past 22 years, but recently the group did a high-profile gig without telling her. Now she is out of the group. Did she leave? Or was she pushed? Not quite clear but not being invited to the gig was a bit shady. We started following Rhona on social media and we think she is a class act.

"It's Christmas Time (For You And I)" is steady RnB groove with Rhona giving warm and inviting vocals. The melody is quite nice. There are some really great harmonies here and we suspect Rhona is on the backing vocals, too. This is a fun new addition to our holiday playlists. Happy December! Swedish artist Flora Summers has a new holiday song out called "When Christmas Is Cold." You might remember Flora's song's "Sweet Summer Feels", "Obsession", "Little While Longer", and this year she was featured on Color Buzz's single "Image."

"When Christmas Is Cold" an easy-going song with a classic feel to it. There is a nostalgia aspect about it, which is strange because it is a new song. You'll be singing along in no time like you've known the chorus for years. This is really good. A new classic. We've added it to our A Very Poptastic Christmas YouTube Playlist.

(Christmas) Time by Sophie Ellis-Bextor

Dear Poptastic Readers,

On December 8, we start our countdown of our Top 101 Songs of 2025. Next week, we will feature some new Christmas songs as well as a look back to 2024 next Friday. Today is a hybrid song of sorts. Sophie Ellis-Bextor's latest is a song called "Time" and it is from her most recent album Perimenopop. However, she has given the song a new name for the music video and it is called "(Christmas) Time." This is only for YouTube at the moment. The regular version remains on purchase and streaming platforms.

The song isn't a Christmas song per se, but it has a warm feel to it and it is about reflecting on a love and giving your all to a relationship. We absolutely love the bassline, and Sophie sounds wonderful on this. The music video is filled with very fast Christmas images of Sophie, her husband, and their family. It is quite touching. Utopia Remixes by Gwenno

Dear Poptastic Readers,

Welsh artist Gwenno has released a Utopia Remixes EP, and it features three songs from her album Utopia. Two of the three songs are of her previous singles "Dancing On Volcanoes" and "Utopia." The other remix is of a song on the album called "Hireth."

"Hireth" is Welsh for "Longing" and the QUINQUIS Remix transforms the album's closing track into a dreamy bubble-filled landscape with echos of vocals.

The Stone Club Remix of "Dancing On Volcanoes" picks up the pace. The remix does have some tempo changes and the music is quite interesting. Vocally, it like a dub mix.

The EP ends with the Cornelius Remix of "Utopia." This is very close to the regular version with the song structure. It sounds like more of an orchestral arrangement. It is quite nice.

"Hireth" was written by Gwenno Saunders. "Utopia" and "Dancing On Volcanoes" were both written by Gwenno Saunders and Rhys Edwards, who also produced the songs. The EP is available on digital outlets everywhere. Buy your copy today! Listen to it on Spofiy here ...

O'r Diwedd by Ani Glass

Welsh artist Ani Glass has released her third single from her new album Phantasmagoria, which out now! The new single is "O'r Diwedd." We featured her previous singles "Phantasmagoria" in July, and "Acwariwm" in September.

"O'r Diwedd" is Welsh for "At Last." Ani says, "O’r Diwedd is a song written during lockdown and is about finally seeing the light at the end of a long dark tunnel. Its rhythm is inspired by our inner conflict; the back and forth, the dragging of feet, whilst the music is lighter and more uplifting - the sound of hope. Everything's Gonna Be Allright by Chris Tall

Swedish artist Chris Tall is out with a new single called "Everything's Gonna Be Allright." This is his fourth solo single this year. We have previously featured "Saturday", "In The Sunshine", and "Dancing In My Head." Of course, Chris is one half of Rikky Disco.

Jupiter by Dagny

Dear Poptastic Readers,

Norwegian artist Dagny is back with a new 3-track EP called Jupiter. If you are new to Dagny, our favourite songs from her have been "Wearing Nothing", "Come Over", "Somebody", "Heartbreak In The Making", and "Strawberry Dream."

The first song on the EP is called "Knowing You" and it is piano-led ballad about being in love. Dagny gives an emotional performance. This is quite lovely.

The title track "Jupiter" is another somber song. This is quite dreamy and it has an acoustic guitar. This song doesn't have a chorus. It is 3 verses of taking about spending special days in Portugal.

"Heavy Tonight" is the last track on the EP, and you guessed it — another acoustic ballad and the piano is back. It's unclear from the lyrics if it is about a breakup or just something that went wrong in a relationship.

Pizza by Color Buzz

Color Buzz is back with their fifth single this year and it is called "Pizza." We have featured their previous singles "Image" featuring Flora Summers, "Spaceship" featuring Paul Rey, and "I've Been Waiting For So Long", and "Indie Summer."

"Pizza" is a fun song about working all week and heading home on a Friday with a pizza to see your loved one. The music is relaxing pop with a midtempo dance beat. The Right by DJ Seinfeld x Confidence Man

Dear Poptastic Readers,

Back in September, we featured the song "Brand New Me" by Saint Etienne and Confidence Man. Well, we've really enjoyed it, but we didn't know much about the Australian group Confidence Man, so we found out they had a song out last month with DJ Seinfeld called "The Right" and we really like it. We think you will too.

"The Right" is a dancefloor delight! The beats are instantly fabulous, and the chorus is glorious. This is so much fun. We are super happy that we didn't miss out on this one. The music video has the group exploring Japan. We've added it to the 2025 Poptastic Confessions YouTube Playlist ...

Dopamine by Robyn

Dear Poptastic Readers,

It has been awhile since we heard from Sweden's Robyn, but she is back with a new song called "Dopamine." Last year, Robyn was featured on "Life" by Jaime xx. Back in 2022, she did a remake of "Buffalo Stance" with Neneh Cherry. Robyn's last album Honey was in 2018.

"Dopamine" is a triumphant return for Robyn. The song has a few tempo changes, but when it picks up, the droning bassline will have you moving in no time. The chorus is amazingly catchy, and Robyn is delivering the vocals with lots of emotion. The music video shows Robyn with a fan and some sparklers proving that you don't need a big budget for an effective video. We've added it to our 2025 Poptastic Confessions YouTube Playlist ...
