2014 Countdown ... #40 through #31

Dear Poptastic Readers,

It's that time of year again to countdown the 40 most POPtastic songs! Now, you might wonder why the most popular songs are missing from our Top 40 —like Taylor Swift's "Shake It Off" or Pharrell William's "Happy." I actually like both of those songs, and I'm sure they will top the year-end charts elsewhere. The whole reason I started these countdowns when I was a teenager was because my favorite songs weren't the top songs. So I made my own charts! And over the years, I have embraced certain popular songs, while also taking notice of the FABulous songs that didn't get much attention. So that is what this list is about.

There were a lot of songs featured in Poptastic Confessions over the year that didn't make the Top 20. But that doesn't mean they weren't good songs. Last year, I decided to do a Top 40 as a way of honoring those songs that didn't make my Top 20. So I'm doing it again! Yay!

Here is #40 through #31. The next post will be #30 through #22. And then we'll start the countdown with the honorary #21 as the song that just missed the Top 20. Then we will do the countdown every day until the last day of the year. So keep checking back!

As always, if you click the name of the song, it will take you to the first time the song was featured in Poptastic Confessions!

Enjoy the countdown! And please feel free to share it social media sites. Share the love of Poptastic Confessions!

#40. "Runaway Daydreamer" by Sophie Ellis-Bextor.

#39. "Russian Kiss" by Annie featuring Bjarne Melgaard.

#38. "Rather Be" by Clean Bandit featuring Jess Glynne.

#36. "Kiss And Not Tell" by La Roux.

#33. "Brighter Days" by Glass Slipper.

#32. "Heartbreak Dream" by Betty Who.
