Tomorrow we start our countdown of our Top 101 Songs of 2025. This year, we decided to feature our Top Albums of 2025! We haven't done this before, so we hope you like it. Remember, our blog features music not heard by the masses. This isn't an anti-popular list. It is an alternative and to highlight music from other artists. Today is about giving those albums some love.
Here are our Top Albums of 2025 ...
Jody Watley had us dancing this year with her remix album Let's Dance Vol.1: Hit Them Beats. This feel-good dance album will have any party going, or just get you dancing around the house. We absolutely loved it. The countdown of our top songs includes new songs that were released this year. Jody's album doesn't have any new songs this year, so she won't be in our top songs of 2025. But that doesn't change our love for her, or her music. She was our top artist on Spotify this year. This album has songs that have been on our previous countdowns, including one of her her two #1s: "Everlasting" was #12 in 2024, "Dancer" was #3 in 2014, "Nightlife" was #1 in 2013, and "The Passion" with SRL was #17 in 2018.
The album Fish Food by Sarah von Reis took us in the opposite direction of dance and beats. She explored dream pop with beautiful haunting melodies and we loved it. It is the perfect chill album this year. It includes the singles "Blame It On" (#21 in 2024), "Friend", "Solitude", "Nest", "Patrol", and "Hall Of Fame." Look for Sarah on this year's list.
Sophie Ellis-Bextor kept the singles coming this year from her album Perimenopop. The first single from the album was "Freedom Of The Night" (#2 in our Top Songs of 2024). The album also had these singles this year: "Relentless Love", "Vertigo", "Taste", "Dolce Vita", "Stay On Me", and "(Christmas) Time."
SG Lewis released an album in September called Anemoia. We've been listening and we love it. We featured four singles from it this year: "Back Of My Mind", "Sugar" with Shygirl, "Feelings Gone" with London Grammar, and "Baby Blue" with Oliver Sim. We'll see where these songs land in our countdown this year.
Alison Goldfrapp released an amazing album this year called Flux. We featured her singles "Find Xanadu", "Reverberotic", "Sound & Light", and "Hey Hi Hello." We also featured her song "Dream Machine" with Purple Disco Machine, but that song was not on her album.
Julie Bergan released an EP in April called Euronites. With the release of the EP came the song "Dance All Night." All of the other songs were featured in Poptastic Confessions last year: "Kiss Me Better" (#9 in 2024), "Eternity Tonight", "Iconic", "Dive", and "Get It Together." Julie released a new song in September called "Make Myself Happy" and it fits in quite nice with the album.
We were new to Tom Aspaul this year. He released the album Cabin Fever in May. We absolutely loved the single "Drama." Other songs that we quite liked were "Bang Bang" and "That Girl." We look forward to new music from him, but we are also getting to know his back catalogue.
Last year, Betty Boo released an amazing album in September called Rip Up The Rulebook. We played it a lot in 2025. The first two singles came out before the album, and they were "It Was Beautiful" (#23 in 2024) and "One Day" (#41 of 2024). The final single "Barbarella" was released last December during our countdown. We featured in it January and it will be on our Top 101 Songs of 2025. There were so many other good songs and we really wish Betty would have released more singles this year. Our picks would be: "Rip Up The Rulebook", "Spotlight", "Bring On The Summer", and "Good Night Out." All of them were worthy of singles!
Also at the very end of last year, Infernal released their album INF:ALBUM. We featured many songs from the album: "Saw It All Coming" (#10 in 2024), "Touch Heaven", "Loving What I Got", "Deserve It All", "Bending The Rules", "Don't Play Safe", and "Somebody's Love." There is a song from Infernal on our list this year.
There you have it! Our Top Albums of 2025. Tune in tomorrow for the first part of our countdown of our Top 101 Songs of 2025.
Hasta maƱana,
