Hall Of Fame + Fish Food by Sarah von Reis

Dear Poptastic Readers,

Last year, Swedish artist Sarah von Reis captivated us with her song "Blame It On" which was #21 in our Top 141 Songs of 2024. This year, we can't stop listening to her single "Patrol" as it has completely bewitched us. We've also fallen in love (again) with her previous singles "Friend", "Solitude", and "Nest." Sarah has just released her debut album Fish Food and the latest single is "Hall Of Fame."

"Hall Of Fame" is a bit less dreamy than previous singles, as the beat is slightly faster and the music is a bit more forward. Sarah's ethereal vocals carry the beatiful melody. We've added the official audio to our 2025 Poptastic Confessions Playlist ...

"Hall Of Fame" was written by Sarah von Reis and Michelle Amkoff, who produced the song. It is available on digital outlets everywhere. Buy your copy today! Listen to it on our 2025 Poptastic Confessions Playlist on Spotify ...

What The Hell Just Happened by Remember Monday

Dear Poptastic Readers,

The UK entry for the Eurovision Song Contest is called "What The Hell Just Happened" by Remember Monday. They are a country pop girl group from the UK made up of singers Lauren Byrne, Holly-Ann Hull, and Charlotte Steele.

"What The Hell Just Happened" is less country pop and more glam rock. The music definitely reminds us of Queen. Their vocals are top-notch amazing, and the song takes lots of twists and turns with tempo changes. The music video is pretty entertaining too, with the ladies running around an old house and singing about events after a party. We've added the video to our 2025 Poptastic Confessions YouTube Playlist ...

"What The Hell Just Happened" was written by Charlotte Steele, Holly-Ann Hull, Julie Aagaard, Lauren Byrne, Samuel Brennan, Thomas Stengaard, and Tom Hollings. Love It! by Victoria Silvstedt

Dear Poptastic Readers,

There was a song in Sweden's Melodifestivalen that didn't do well in the competition, but now it is becoming a cult classic. The song is "Love It!" by Victoria Silvstedt. According to Wikipedia, Victoria is a Swedish actress, singer, Playboy Playmate, television host, and beauty pagent titleholder. This is our first time hearing of her.

"Love It!" definitely has the camp factor: a happy dance beat, a talking bit, and an insanely catchy chorus. Victoria's performance is a bit deadpan, which is part of the charm. She also didn't have strongest vocal performance during the competition, but no matter. Drag queens around Europe have some new material and the song is gaining some underground momentum. Check out Victoria's Melodifestivalen performance in our 2025 Poptastic Confessions YouTube Playlist ...

Laika Party by EMMY

Dear Poptastic Readers,

The Eurovision Song Contest is in May, and we have already featured Sweden's entry: "Bara Bada Bastu." We will highlight some of the other songs we like before then. Ireland's Eurovision entry this year is a song called "Laika Party" by EMMY. Here's a fun fact: EMMY is from Norway, and the song was written mostly by Norwegian songwriters and submitted to represent Norway in Eurovision. Norway did not accept it and Ireland did as one of the writers (who is Russian) lives in Ireland.

Of course, "Laika Party" sounds like "like a party" and it is fun dance pop song. Emmy has a very mesmerizing high vocal. The song is about the dog named Laika, who was a stray dog found on a streets of Moscow. The Soviet space program sent her to space in 1957, and she was the first living being to orbit the earth. Sadly, Laika died of hyperthermia. The song is an amazing tribute to her life. Take note of the key change at the end. We've added the music video to our 2025 Poptastic Confessions YouTube Playlist ...

"Laika Party" was written by Emmy Kristine Guttulsrud Kristiansen, Erlend Guttulsrud Kristiansen, Henrik Østlund, Larissa Tormey, and Truls Marius Aarra. It was written by Henrik Østlund and Jonas Jensen. It is available on digital outlets everywhere. Buy your copy today! Listen to it on our 2025 Poptastic Confessions Playlist on Spotify ...

Once In A While by Clara Mae & Josh Breaks

Dear Poptastic Readers,

Swedish artist Clara Mae is back with a new song and it is a duet with Josh Breaks called "Once In A While." You might remember that we featured Clara's song "Growing Pains" back in January. In February, we featured her dance song "Hurricane" with Frank Walker.

"Once In A While" is a power ballad about heartbreak. We'd not heard of Josh before, we found his social media links below, but there was no bio so we don't really know much about him other than he is good looking with a great voice. Clara and Josh sound great together. It looked like on Instagram that they filmed a music video, but we don't see it on YouTube. Either it isn't out yet, or it is blocked in our country. We've added the official audio to our 2025 Poptastic Confessions YouTube Playlist ...

Jungle by Sugababes

Dear Poptastic Readers,

UK girl group Sugababes are back with a brand new song called "Jungle." It is the lead single from their forthcoming album. The last time that we had a brand new song from them was in 2023 with the ballad "When The Rain Comes" (#20 in our Top 101 Songs of 2023).

"Jungle" is a hip song with a deep groove and lots of attitude. The catchy chorus will have you singing along in no time. The second verse has a talking bit that we find absolutely divine. As usual, the Sugababes just make this sound so cool. They also look cool in the music video. Welcome back, ladies! We've added the music video to our 2025 Poptastic Confessions YouTube Playlist ...

Live Forever by KIDDO

Dear Poptastic Readers,

Thanks to Scandipop, we heard a new song called "Life Forever" by KIDDO, and we quite liked it. We weren't familiar with KIDDO, so we learned that she is a Swedish singer/songwriter and a pop musician. She has written songs for Dagny and Icona Pop.

"Life Forever" is a mid-tempo guitar-led pop song. We were captivated in the first verse because the melody is ACE, and the music has an edge to it. KIDDO's vocals are strong, and yet there is something so dreamy about this. We've added the official audio to our 2025 Poptastic Confessions YouTube Playlist ...
