This past week, we have heard a lot of buzz about Suzette Charles and her recently released self-titled debut album, which has been 33 years in the making. We were intrigued. Suzette Charles was crowned Miss America in 1984 when Vanessa Williams was forced to resign. She later released her debut single in the UK in 1993 called "Free To Love Again." The song, which was written and produced by the legendary Mike Stock and Pete Waterman of the PWL, and it didn't exactly set the charts on fire. The rest of her album was shelved. Until now. The album is out and the new single is "Whenever You're Around."
"Whenever You're Around" is a sleek pop song with some house and lounge vibes calling from 1993. Having said that, we wouldn't say it sounds dated, but retro. But we are really digging it! It just makes you feel happy. Suzette sounds great. She has filmed a music video where it looks like she is having the time of her life. This makes us very happy. We've added the music video to our 2026 Poptastic Confessions YouTube Playlist ...
