#1 of 2019

Dear Poptastic Readers,

In case you are just joining us, we have been counting down our Top 100 Songs of 2019. If you have been with us every day, now the moment you have been waiting for!

#1 in our Top 100 Songs of 2019: “Stuff Like That” by Bananarama. Click on the title of the song to see what we originally said about it.

Written by: Sara Dallin, Keren Woodward, and Ian Masterson
Produced by: Ian Masterson

Why: “You whispered sweet nothings” is the line we couldn’t stop singing. “Stuff Like That” was the lead single from their album In Stereo. Bananarama delivered this disco-filled pop gem with horns and flare. They even did some vocal parts in the minor key. It was A-listed on Radio 2 in the UK for 4 weeks. The single mix is different to the album version as has it has more horns and pep. There is even a glorious extended mix.

Watch: They made a super cute music video that is reminiscent of some of their previous videos. Sara and Keren look just as fun and fabulous as ever! The music in the video is the album version, not the single mix.

Live performance: We chose to share a live performance at the Borderline in London as a couple of Poptastic Confessions contributors were there.

Chart history: Bananarama released new music 2019 with their album In Stereo. It had been 7 years since their last output of new music, and 10 years since their last album. Although they did successful tour with the original lineup in 2017 and 2018, so they haven't exactly been quiet all this time. Here are their two previous entries in our Top 20 countdown since we started Poptastic Confessions.

“Now Or Never” was #1 in 2012

There were also some other tracks from In Stereo that made our Top 100 this year …

Buy: “Stuff Like That” is available on digital outlets everywhere. It is featured on their glorious album In StereoAgain, the single version is different — so check both versions out!

Cheers then,
—The Poptastic Confessions Collective
